COVID-19 (coronavirus) is starting to make me nervous

I am not a germophobe or someone who overreacts in general. I wasn't concerned when the Wuhan coronavirus started hitting the news. I wasn't even freaked out when I saw the cases explode in China because it seemed to be a localized issue. Now? It is all over the world. I just read that cases were confirmed today in Switzerland and Spain. That's the first I'm hearing of the virus in those countries. This is like that cell phone game Plague Inc. The virus just keeps spreading all over the place. The CDC, NIH, and federal/state/local health agencies are not prepared to deal with a pandemic like this. I saw a news article that said people are making contingency plans for working from home, closing schools, cancelling public events, etc. They are even considering cancelling the Tokyo 2020 Olympics! I'm not in panic mode but I am definitely keeping myself informed. I am going to stock up on some non-perishable foods to keep on hand. If the outbreak gets bad around here and we are advised to stay home it will be good to know that I have enough food and supplies for awhile. Are you following the news about Wuhan Coronavirus?

@dgobucks226 There are many health challenges coming our way. Some we will be able to do something about it and some we won't.

Yes, it is definitely spreading but I don't come into contact with that many people on a daily basis. I have no concern about it really.

I am following the news but I am not very concerned at this point, I would, however, avoid air travel and crowded places.

Yes, this is becoming very scary as it is spreading around to many countries. Many carry this virus but show no symptoms according to news reports infecting others. Until they get a handle on its spread and find a vaccine I fear many more will fall victim to this virus. And as you mentioned it is affecting everyday life and events in other countries besides China.

We are quite near the ground zero of the virus that is why the news greatly affects us here. We do have cases but so far there is no local outbreaks as of yet just quarantined cases. We are carefully watching for any suspected local outbreaks but so far there has been none in my place. Our government has temporarily stopped all flights coming from China and we are slowly repatriating our countrymen out of them and they are subjected to a mandatory 14 day quarantine and monitoring by health officials. So far the 1st batches that came from Wuhan passed and no symptoms showed up and they were all negative. We have another one that arrived from the Cruise Ship in Japan that was quarantined there and those that did not have any symptoms were sent back to our country. They will be subjected to another 14 day quarantine again to be sure they will be cleared. So fat hose are the only measures that you can do to prevent the spread. On individual cases we can only practice good hygiene habits and avoid getting sick by strengthening our immune system.

So for it is still good precautions for people to wear mask and wash hands more often. Besides it, avoid gathering is also helpful. In my city there is no lockdown, but we still try to stay at home to avoid being infected. The schools are still close now and I don't know when it will be open.
