I had an interesting conversaton a few years ago with a fella in a bar in Montana. We were strangers, but we got along, so we talked for about half an hour.
One of things I remember him saying is, "We have long cold Winters up here. We read a lot, and we drink a lot."
This morning, for no particular reason, I found myself wondering if people drink more alcohol in countries and states with colder climates.
I'm a fairly heavy evening drinker, but I don't usually drink during the day. Even at baseball games, where beer is a tradition, I'll have a beer at night games, but not at day games in the hot sun.
When I think of Ireland, I think of pubs and Guinness. When I think of Germany, I think of beer. When I think of Russia, I think of Vodka. When I think of Scandinavian Countries, I remember hearing that alcoholism is a problem up there. When I think of Switzerland...well...I think of Swiss watches, but not alcohol. California (mostly pretty warm)? Pot!
I suppose this would be an easy Google, but I'm interested in your personal experiences in this area.
