No I Won't Pay Interest!

I borrowed money from this lady I know. I held up my end of the bargain and paid her back. She then asked me for interest. That was not part of the deal. I nicely told her I did not have any extra interest and that i paid what I owed. Has your friend asked of you intertest for money you borrowed?

If that lady is your friend then now she WAS your friend.

@db20747 a friend wouldn't charge interest. If she did then she had lowered the level of friendship.

She tried to throw it on me at the last minute.

Yes, was, she was really just an acquaintance. That was nice of her to loan me the money, but if she wants interest she should say so at first.

I have borrowed and lent money to the people nearer my heart. We always talked about a bit of interest, less than what the Bank asks when it loans and more than what you get when you deposit your money there.

@db20747 I usually place the small amounts of money I save on a deposit at the Bank and they give me a small amount of interest. It is not big but it is. If I lend my money to my best friends or close family I expect them to give me that too. In this moment I have lent my whole inheritance from my mother to my daughters. They are both paying me interests.

@marguicha that's good if that's what you agreed to!

This is fair when reasonable, if you are helping out a friend and you want interest, they need to let people know.

I've never borrowed money from a friend so haven't had this experience. If you hadn't already agreed to pay interest, she should not have asked you for interest. It seems strange to me that a friend would expect interest.

This is good you didn't borrow. She should have mentioned this when she lent it to me.

If she lent you the money with good intentions she wouldn't ask you to pay her extra. And if she wanted to charge you extra, she should have say it before she lend you.

Yes, I thought it was good intentions. Yes, she should have said so at first

It's pretty obvious that hes really into the money especially when it wasn't part of the deal.I wouldn't give as well if it was me and no my friends never asked for an interest so far whenever I borrowed to them.

No and i find it ridiculous for her to ask you for interest. If you wanted to pay interest you could've borrowed from a bank or another loan place. You paid what you owed that's all she deserves

She should have stated it right when she gave you the money. If it wasn't agreed upon at the beginning I wouldn't pay interest either.

Yes, she should have said that will cost you extra when you pay it back.
