The rock band I'm in will be doing two 9 PM - 1 AM gigs this weekend. It's at a place called the Clayton Club in Clayton CA.
We're a bunch of "old guys," and 10 PM is normally the new Midnight for me. But we've pulled these late Clayton Club gigs off before
I'll come away something like $150 richer, plus wine and tips. Wish us luck!

@LindaOHio I don't really consider him to be badass. But he is a "river of song."

If I start driving now, my GPS app says I’ll be stuck in a snow bank in St. Louis by the time you start. But I’ll be there in spirit....calling out for “Spanish Pipedream.”

@TheHorse -- "Crooked Piece of Time" is pretty rockin'. And heck, even I can play that one!

Heh. I should learn that one. The best for bluegrass (not what we play) would be Please Don't Bury Me. I perform Paradise often. And Christmas in Prison. Both are waltzes (3/4 time)! With this band, I could do Great Rain, but the lead guy is a diva and doesn't want me singing too many songs.

Thanks! The stuff I'm posted on YouTube is mostly my "folkie" stuff, plus a couple of silly Western Swing songs. I don't have any recordings of the rock 'n roll band that I'd be proud to share. I'm thinking, "If you can't be good, be loud." Actually, we're OK, but our lead singer is not a very good singer or guitar player.

I hope so. I wonder if you read my old posts about this band leader being the guy who "usually pays us." Once, he didn't pay us and said the money was going "to the practice room." A few times hes kept the tip money and not shared it with the rest of the band. He's a slightly strange fella.

@1creekgirl I will count the tips at the end of the gig tonight. I am sad that I have to do that.

Last year several of our family went to a small club on King St in Charleston, SC to hear our son in law and his band. Mostly 90's music, but we had fun.

Do you ever record any of your shows and post them to YouTube?

I know what you mean about time change for older folks. Staying up till 1AM nowadays for me would be like pulling an all-nighter when I was college-aged kid raising heck... Enjoy your gig!
