National Snack Day Hug a G.I. Day 1837 - The City of Chicago is incorporated. 1974 - People magazine is published for the first time as People Weekly. 1994 - John Candy passes away. He was born in 1950 and was a Canadian comedian and actor. Some of his movies: Stripes, Splash, Summer Rental, Home Alone, Spaceballs, Uncle Buck, Planes Trains and Automobiles, Canadian Bacon.
