The new phobia: the coughobia.

Coughs have been part of our life all the time. Coughs and sneezes. It is the way our body gets rid in a healthy way of anything that bothers it. Many coughs and sneezes are related to mild allergies. One of my grandsons cannot sleep with a blanket nearby, I hate planes and have decided to wear a mask the next time I take one.
But with the corona virus panic, coughs and sneezes have turned into phobias. A person coughs once and he has coronavirus. He panics. So he coughs harder terrified. A cough should get rid of the virus but a cough is also a symptom of it.
Dread comes along
Stop reading about the corona virus, say mental experts. Still, wash your hands as you should have washed them all your life, with water and soap.
Relate lovingly to people instead of hiding from them all. Eat well, take walks and just in case, keep some extra water in the house (not sodas).
I loved all this when I read it. No masks anywhere. No terror.

I have read that common cold kills more people during the winter. Everywhere.

You're so right. Very tough to avoid the fear especially when you are so close by. Now we have cases here in India coming to 30 in couple of days. It started with two two people from travel history to Italy. Out of 30 cases, 28 are from India and two are Italian tourist. Now many more people who came in contact with them are being traced.

I had great problems using masks to go to the hospital while in chemo. Finally, I stopped using them. There they are.

I know my niece doesn’t have coronavirus as it isn’t in our area yet. I took her out twice and she had a light cough and I worry people are going to freak out thinking she has it. She gets a cough with ear infections and all kinds of things. I get it with asthma and allergies.

@marguicha I know but the media is so overboard about this I’m afraid people will think she’s caught it.

@shaggin The important thing is that your niece is sure that she is okey.

There was an elderly lady in the shop coughing before and the poor woman could not stop for a few minutes.
Thing is this is the month of the start of the allergies big time so plenty of phobias going on I guess.

I turn my face away from people who cough without covering their mouths. And I use soap.

You are right. The virus is scary but the more and more alarming news going around is really making it even more alarming. Now it's in our country with people coming from Italy. In few days the number has come to 30

I am sure that in your country (and in many others) more people die from dengue than from corona virus.

@marguicha Yes. Dengue is common here during rain. We still have deaths from dengue but that has come down. Most of the cases get cured now.

I have red about it and precautions are, as always, common sense. Keep hands clean with soap and water (nothing sophisticated) nd don´t touch your face. It is very easy.

I have been very clean all my life. I don´t need a virus to remind me of it. I use soap, not gels.

I have stopped watching the news and feel lot less on edge. I just think of the courage of those kids in Syria wanting or the next bomb
