Trying to go on the frugal mode

Due to the Corona Virus, I am currently working from home. It is just me working alone in the day time. The house was quiet so I have to on my youtube to ensure that there are some sounds in the house. I decided to spend sometime educating myself. From one way leading to another, I ended up on a channel about frugal millionaire. I realized that I had been living my life the wrong way. I had been spending my earning the way I should not have. I need to change and I am adopting myself for the change. I had been starting to brew my own coffee, cook my own meal as much as possible and also reducing the amount of grab that I would be taking as well. So what will I be doing with the money? Since I already have at least 3 months of saving in case of emergency. I will likely to expand the saving to another 3 months eventually as well as to use the rest of the money for investment. What about you? Are you having emergency funding? How many months can you go without a job?

You will save so much if you learn to cook your own food. That is the biggest expense I think.

Yes we have hawker which provide reasonable price food but I can bring it down further and I am trying to cook as well which can be done since I am currently working from home. It can be even cheaper since I can get fishes way below costs which must be consumed on the day of purchase.

@id_peace In that case, cooking your own food is one area where you can save quite a bit although we found that food was very cheap in Singapore and a great many people don't seem to cook their own food but buy it. In my area, it would be very expensive to eat out all the time.

Even I have been having financial issues. While I am trying to mend things, some things do take time. Do try and see how changes in various approaches help you. Have a great week ahead.

It seems like you are very prepared for a long haul of quarantine. Enjoy your home for now.

Oh yes that is the case. I do not want to be in a case whereby I will have to rush out to the supermarket to fight with others for the purchases. How prepare you are since your president had just declared a state of emergency

@id_peace we always have enough food supply in our food cabinet that can last maybe for 2 weeks or longer. That would be enough for now.

The good thing is that your transport costs and time goes down. But the bad thing is that your electrical and water bills goes up.

I have savings that I intend to use but it is there should I need it in an emergency. I don't have enough to savings to be able to live on it, though. I'm already frugal (I make my own meals, don't buy takeaway drinks often, and try to save where I can). My savings wouldn't even pay a month's rent. I'm working on trying to save more but that's going to be difficult until I earn more!

It’s wise to start saving while you are young and investing. We all all set with emergency funds, savings, and investments. We started early in our marriage.
