Time to go hiking up at Black Diamond Mines

I took a friend hiking up at Black Diamond Mines, in Antioch CA, about a month ago. The grass was wonderfully green, but the wildflowers had not shown up yet. Two of my favorites are Indian Warrior and Indian Paintbrush, both of which show up as the hills are just starting to turn from emerald green to yellow. I see some yellow in the hills now, so I'm going to head back up there, perhaps with a friend, her husband, and two daughters. They have never been there. Do you have favorite (and very familiar) places to walk or hike? The photo is of Indian Warrior, which as used as a sedative by the "natives" a couple of centuries ago.

I have not found one spot here that I might favor. Once I get my schedule all figured out I will go walking more and see what I can find

@TheHorse I suppose in some aquarium but I also know if you had had connections for Biker's Week that is going on now till Sunday with live concerts all day on the beach you could have made some good money. I have no idea about any of this but those people partying every day do not have a care in the world

@wolfgirl569 Heh. There is a creek that runs by the playground where the toddlers and I hang out. They will grab my hand and say "agua," and we will go and listen to (and watch) the water trickle by. It is incredibly relaxing.

Me too. But I admit that I love the act of hiking, and how it makes humans converse freely.

I have a place along the river where I love to go walking. This plant is pretty, but , it is a root parasitic plant. This mean it attacks to the roots of other plants to steal nutrients and water.

@TheHorse Some plants are pretty, but they kill the others to survive.

@JudyEv Have you ridden horses for much of your life? I started as a kid and was with my "best gal" for 23 years.

Yeah, being busy gets in the way of hiking and MyLotting. Who is Him? If you're hiking with Jesus, I want some of what you're having.

@LindaOHio That sucks. Is there anything that can be done about your spinal problem? I haven't reached "elderly" yet, but I hope I can stay Corona-free.

Is your body hurting? My only challenge (aside from asthma) is lower back pain.

@TheHorse I have spinal problems and can only walk about 50 feet at a time. Very annoying and sad. Be careful with that asthma. My husband has asthma too, is "elderly" and has a heart condition. Be cautious out there and wash your hands a lot! Stay safe and healthy!!!

Apparently it's a pretty flower but also a "parasite." It attaches its roots to those of Manzanita trees, and "shares" their nutrition.
