MyLot is Safe!

With all the problems going on in our world, it seems that myLot is the safest place to be right now.
Although our neck of the beach is still free of the virus, we are not taking anymore unnecessary chances.
No more going out to eat, no more gym, no more museums, libraries, or theaters, etc. I’m so grateful I don’t have to work!
I’m happy at home reading, myLotting, staying in touch with friends and family, reorganizing, and will have a tiny dinner party here later in the week.
One of my concerns is that tomorrow we want to vote in the Democratic Primary. I also have a hair appointment.
Are you being affected in any way by the COVID-19?

You're smart not to take any unnecessary chances Dianne.
Here things are closing down...schools, libraries, bars, restaurants etc. Pretty soon there won't be anywhere to go even if we wanted.
Since i'm pretty much a homebody anyway it hasn't affected me yet.

Believe it or not, I am a homebody, too!
I love gourmet cooking, enjoy keeping a neat and tidy home for hubs, don’t mind laundry, love reading, and organizing things.
Of course, I do enjoy going out with friends, but will have to curtail that now.
Exercise will continue except for the gym.
I’m just worried about my family.

@DianneN Fortunately, kids are at the lowest risk so you don't have to worry so much about your grandkids.

I spent the entire day today shutting down all my facilities at work. Our city leaders finally decided it was time. But of course, they waited until half the day was over, so I had to go around kicking people out of my pools so I could shut down. I was told I still have to report to work every day, but I'm wondering why. I'm not going to have anything to do for the next 2-3 weeks since everything is shut down.
I love your ocean picture. If I squint hard enough, I think I can see the Bahamas off in the distance.

I can imagine how crazy it must have been closing shop so quickly, but be thankful you will still have to report to work. You will be paid! Perhaps you can even get more time to myLot!
My brother’s friend is arriving from the Bahamas today. We are curious how the travel went. My brother is due to fly home next week.

Yes, our dinner out was cancelled tonight because the restaurants have been ordered closed by our Governor Mike DeWine. I voted by absentee ballot. My husband will go out and vote tomorrow.

All bars, restaurants, public meeting areas,(rec center, seniors center, libraries) have closed their doors until further notice. Grocery stores have been dealing with runs on TP and cleaning supplies. We went there yesterday, food seems to be restocked though there were a few empty shelves, (very few).
My wife and I are both retired and need not work, that is one good thing here right now. I am feeling sorry for all those who work or starve. Especially those in food services. It is true the restaurants can still sell food for taking out, that does nothing for the serving staff who will be out of a job and out of pay all too soon.
Still, right now, we have beautiful weather, the whales are swimming by in their northern migration. flowers are starting to bloom and spring looks like it is ready to pop. My wife and I are taking advantage of walks on the beach, hikes in the woods, and exploring places we have never been. So there are some positives here.

I think it is filling my mind with too much worry. I just read a scientific explanation of why it is a worse virus than the flu and it just filled me with doom. Places are closing as preventative measures and it certainly makes us gloomy.

It's comforting to know that we can all be here safely on myLot - a meet up of friends around the world. I'll try to be here when I can. I've been busy the past few days getting ready for this "social distancing" - including making sure my parents have everything they need too. Schools closed, bars and restaurants and public places - I think this will be the case all around the nation (if not the world). Please take care out there and we shall keep in touch here!!

@DianneN I love that we can all exchange info and experiences from around the world here - real life stuff going on with real people/friends - not just news.
We are both blessed. Thinking of you and all the family . . . I hope everyone is staying healthy and I know they are all taking care of each other. Hubby and I are thanking our lucky stars on so many levels right now. Not everyone is in this position - and I hope everyone can recover from this (more than just about the virus!).
Please continue to take care - and I hope we keep on with our chats here!

Thank goodness we have such a wonderful place to meet, laugh, vent, and comfort one another.
I’m happy you are taking such good care of your parents that way. My boys and nephew are on our case every single day.
Hopefully, things will begin to improve. In the meantime, be safe and smart.

You are wise and I would cancel the hair appointment too. You never know who else will be in the salon. Look after yourself and be safe!

The lesson that this pandemic has taught us is really staying grounded and be close to family and love ones as our time with family is already eaten up by enjoying too much what our external world has to offer that we tend to neglect what we have at home. Now we are grounded from home in the meantime something I did not expect to happen but appreciated that there are things worth looking at home than outside. Mylot let us get this perspective a bit different by sharing to our friends outside of the confines of our physical homes that is safe from the virus attention.

There seems to be a very good vacancy right now in some university (re: my field of work), but I can't apply for it - because of covid-19. I keep consoling myself that health is more important. (I work casual, so I still have other workplaces to go to - when I am in the mood !)
