No postal delivery today

I met one of our local postmen this morning as I was taking the dog for a walk. He told me that half the postmen in his depot had called in sick, which meant that only half the village would get a delivery today - my street is in the unlucky half!
How interesting. The number of coronavirus victims in the whole county is - so far - very low, with only seven recorded to date out of a population approaching half a million. It would be extremely surprising to learn that the seven in question were all postmen, or even relatives of postmen.
This suggests that a lot of people - presumably not just postmen - are choosing to self-isolate for the flimsiest of reasons. "My dad's got a cough" sounds like a plausible excuse for having a few days off!

To know approximately the number of people contaminated in UK, you take the number of deaths attributed to it and multiply by 100. Then knowing that the number doubles every 3 days, you know where you are going.
I had mail today, but I would not reproach to a postman to use the right of withdrawal that any employee has in this country in case of potential danger for his life.

What danger? A postman is out in the open air and does not have to converse with anyone if he is just posting mail through letterboxes.

This is a shame if you were waiting for an important letter. I think people could be getting over cautious about this whole thing.
