Census Blues

I just got the census form that we have to fill out in the US. They are very nosy. I have to send back a form for seven people even though I live here alone. They did not even include a postage-free envelope. Why is my living situation important to the government? They should just count that I live here. Did you get yours yet if you live in the US? If you live somewhere else, is the government that nosy? What do you think of all this?

I understand the demographics questions, except for the “are you of Latino origin.” Why ONLY Latino? Why not French or German? Anyway, I filled mine out online, so I’m good for another decade.

I don't know. They ask the same thing when I answer surveys.

@JohnRoberts That is a good point. The current crisis might fix everything. No worries.

We don't have to worry even in a decade because according to the media we will all perish in the pandemic anyway or exist in a Mad Max world. Seriously, if the fatality count is as predicted, the census immediately becomes invalid.

Oh, yes. I think the government here is nosy, too.

They probably know all this stuff anyway. Why are they asking again?

@akalinus I have no idea why. Maybe they want to know if there are changes.

@thelme55 I don't know why either. The US is a melting pot of people from everywhere.

I filled mine out online for free. You should only fill out the form for the people who live in your house. So it should have been filled out for one person, not any more than that. (If the other people don't live with you, why would you fill out that they do?)

@akalinus Yes, ma'am, I do understand that. What concerns me about your discussion is the implication that you weren't being honest when I would bet my eyeteeth that you are as honest as the day is long. In other words, I'm worried about you, Dearheart. If your reasons are none of my business, that's totally fine and I can understand that. If you simply prefer not to say in an open site like this, you do have my email address. I always welcome any type of interaction with you. I hope you know that.

I filled it out and mailed it a long time ago. I filled out my info even though it is none of their business. Not everyone is honest.

You don't have to tell me but why do you have to send back information about 7 people?

I was going to mail it but can't do it until April 1 because they want the info for that date.

As if the stupid census is important at this time.
