Amazing! I can actually see the floor!

This is our spare bedroom that doubles as my office - and where I am sitting as I write this. The bedroom function disappeared a long time ago, which is why the bed is propped against the far wall!
However, the room has fallen victim to my passion for accumulating books and journals, and for a long time it was impossible to see the floor and very difficult to get to the bottom shelves of the bookcase.
However, yesterday I screwed my courage to the sticking place and started shifting lots of stuff to the loft space. As a result, a small area of carpet has seen the light of day for the first time in years!
There is more to be done, and with any luck I should be able to take a photo tomorrow that shows even more of the floor. Here's hoping!

Oh no - my guilty secret has been revealed to the world! A lot has happened since my Bubblews days, such as acquiring a much better camera (!) but clearly this is a job that was waiting to be done for far too long. Incidentally, you're not in league with my wife, are you? You appear to have something in common.
And also incidentally, I am amazed that you could remember something like this from so far back - you must have read thousands of posts from hundreds of writers in the meantime!

I fear that wives all have something in common, they pretend a clean room and everything well stored.
I remembered you, because you wrote interesting posts and because your room looks so much like the room where my husband works. He started this morning to clean a bit and now I can see part of the floor.

@LadyDuck I will soon be presenting Part Two of this little saga - post major removal of books and journals to the loft. However, I intend to have a well-deserved cup of tea and introduce the vacuum to the floor before putting the wide-angle lens back on the camera!
When that's all done maybe I'll resume the potentially interesting posts - hopefully with no reference whatever to the v*r*s!!

It's my response to having my "out of the house" time reduced by the current crisis. I can see myself writing a lot more articles on various subjects and I need to be able to lay hands on my source material without having to turn everything upside down in the process. I have already made lots of chance happy discoveries!

You have so many books. I have a home office but I ended up working more on my dinning area.

Yes - getting it through the loft hatch would be a challenge! As for shelves, we've got plenty, including all round the lobby area into which the hatch ladder descends - and they're all full!. I just need to re-arrange everything into a more logical order - I've spent 40+ years doing this in libraries, but when it comes to my own collection I'm much less organized!

@indexer It sounds a bit like the cobbler's children going barefoot! Maybe now we're all expected to spend more time at home, you'll have a chance to do a bit more organising. When Vince retired from his job, they were putting bets on the colour of his desktop - but I think you could still see the colour of the carpet.
