THANK YOU for Your Service

As many of you know, we have quite a few veterans on myLot. I'm one of them, having done my time in the Navy.
People are always kind to say, "Thank you for your service" to me. That's nice to hear, even though I was more of a support staff person than the "front line" (such as my brother, who was on an aircraft carrier that got stuck in the Mediterranean on his first cruise in 1973 because of the Yom Kippur War).
But it's time to make certain that we all say "THANK YOU for your service" to the people on the front lines of this pandemic war. And, whether you care for the orange guy in the White House or not, he was correct in calling this a "war."
So, THANK YOU to the doctors and the nurses. A nurse in St. Louis just died from the COVID-19 virus. They're putting their lives at risk to save ours.
THANK YOU to the truckers. They're keeping the food, supplies, and material goods lifeline flowing and open. While social media may be creating a false hysteria, the truck drivers are making certain that its remains nothing but false hysteria.
THANK YOU to the leaders who are NOT "playing politics" right now. They are hard to find, for sure, but there are a few out there who are actually interested in getting this resolved and NOT scoring political brownie points.
THANK YOU to the restaurant workers who are taking a ferocious cut in pay to keep things like carryout, delivery, and drive-thru open. If you utilize your favorite restaurant's carry-out, TIP BIG. You'll be glad you did in a couple of months when that person still has a job.
And THANK YOU to everyone taking this seriously. Yes, I'm skeptical myself that it's not nearly as disastrous as some (especially those making a lot of money right now) are portraying it. But why take chances? This might be the one time they're telling the truth.
Thank you all for your service. We're all in this one together.
God bless.

I think they should all be appreciated and remembered. And even though it is a saying from a Christmas story it is very much a part of what is going on today - God bless us everyone

How neat finally someone thanked the people that actually keep country running. Its not rich white guys, I know that much. Yeah being in uniform is crazy sometimes. I was in National Guard and not even in Marine ones which seems to get more respect but the amount of respect you get is a bit uncomfortable. I am just wearing it, not that I can match the standards. Police oh, my I never seen police be so polite and humble. Stupid National Guard friend wanted to see the ducks and police give tipping their hats, I go what just standing here.
Even in Australia, the last day there in Marines, we could only go out in our cami's and people were tipping their caps,I was like this is to much. How come you do not do that for that actual true workers that make things go.

I agree. We should all be saying thank you to them, plus janitors and the others who take their time to disinfect and deep clean - especially at times like this.

There are a lot of unsung heroes out there working hard while we are laying low in our homes. Kudos to all of them.

Thank You for your service!
Great post and especially appropriate for the times . It's easy to forget those who are out there keeping the wheels turning. Without these people we would be lost.
So a huge THANK YOU from me

Truckers have never been so needed as now to keep the "supply trains" running.
