Trump wants to end social distancing after 15 days

which shows exactly how ignorant he is. . . especially about science. He wants people to return to school, work, etc. soon because he is more worried about the survival of the economy than the actual survial of Americans. That is abhorrent. Apparently all of his advisors (except Larry Kudlow) are warning against this but since when has he ever listened to them over his "gut feeling"? Hopefully state governors will keep their social shutdowns in place. This thing is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. Anyone with a basic understanding of science knows that. (and for those who think I only read CNN I saw a similar headline at the Rupert Murdoch-owned Wall Street Journal but the whole article was behind a paywall)
Another week of self-isolating -- or, for many Americans, mandatory lockdowns -- are raising tough questions for President Donald Trump on how long the coronavirus mitigation measures he recommended will last and whether they are worth the economic pain.

We have had much worse pandemics; and I don't remember the globe shutting down. The stock market is bottoming out; and people are going to be unable to pay their bills. As much as it may allow the coronavirus to spread, I have to agree with him. The country isn't shut down due to the flu each year.

You are only at the beginning, but, yes, it would be better to quarantine only people tested positive, it is what recommends the WHO. Putting in quarantine a complete population has not been done since the 19th C, and it did not worked well. The problem is that the world lacks of tests, for a reason difficult to understand...

Hopefully people use common sense, I think most are in agreement you going to have to use your own discretion to handle this because leadership has been pretty bad at most levels. I think Our Governor is doing a pretty good job. To be fair its a tough position to be put in with how to protect people and not be a authoritarian jerk also. I do think calling National Guard was a bit to much for me, but like the Major of LA said, if it feels wrong, its probably right because when it is actually the right time, its to late. Trump is never going to be that wise to use that kind of logic. He is actually the worse kind of leader in a crisis like this to have because he is so greedy. People should remember that next time they vote.

Greedy @crossbones27? He has never taken a paycheck and has already donated his next paycheck to the Coronavirus effort.

Trump really has not said that. What he has said is we need to see what happens, but he IS looking at the possibility of ending the social distancing thing. But not in quite the way that you described. Look, we are going to disagree, I just know it. BUT, I think the economy IS important. These people that are being impacted by this economically are the very people the democrats are always saying they are most concerned about. We have a stimulus bill designed to help the average American hurt by unemployment and other factors that is being stymied because Pelosi wants to play politics and toss in abortion funding into a bill that has nothing to do with, and SHOULD have nothing to do with abortion. It's about economic relief to FAMILIES impacted by CORONAVIRUS. People are losing their jobs, and people might lose their homes ultimately as well if we do not also get the economy under control. We cannot house everybody and feed everybody and provide medical care to everybody without bankrupting the country. Trump is concerned about this, and is simply saying we need to find a strong BALANCE between both stopping the spread of Coronavirus but not crippling the economy to do it if there are healthy, able bodied people who will least be impacted by getting it back to work and supporting at least the economy AND able to support their families with paychecks. More people will die from poverty than will ever die from this virus.

People's LIVES are more important. I absolutely do not agree with adding anything else to that bill aside from a COVID-19 response.F all of the rest of that. They can fight about it later. This is SERIOUS but I don't agree with stopping the social distancing in a week or 2 weeks. This is only going to get worse.
