Companies are making things free or cheap

Atleast in the US.
Have you noticed? I just got a text about Metro giving me free unlimited data for a month. I've seen other companies saying that they won't shut off your internet, electricity or water if you can't pay the bill.
Amazon is making all kids shows free.
It's good of these places to do this, don't you think?

It is and it isn't. The thing is, the bills won't disappear. So, even if they can be put off, at some point they still have to paid. I get it if someone does not have the money NOW. But who is to say that they'll have twice as much later? I think people need to make every effort to do what they can.
It's a good thing in the short term. Don't get me wrong. But just prolongs the inevitable in the long term.

It would be nice if internet providers, electricity provider and water companies would "forgive" a month or two of no payment. I know that's not going to happen, though.

@ScribbledAdNauseum It would be a difficult proposition considering they have many bills to pay as well, including being able to pay their workers. Many people do not fully realize it, but many of these companies are not cash rich.

@simone10 True, those who really need it should be using it. I am sure the economy will take a long time to fully recover, especially as people are having to focus on paying off the debts they will accrue during this time.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I wouldn't take advantage of that. It will only get you behind more and more. It would be good for someone who has lost their job.

I do think this is good business. People will remember they helped folks during this difficult time . . . and these companies are probably hoping these people will continue doing business with them after this is all over. I just hope there is no catch down the road . . .

Yes, but I do hope that this won't result in higher bills once all of this is over. It wouldn't surprise me if prices increased after it's all said and done.

@ScribbledAdNauseum the mall owners here issued a statement that they suspended the rent for 1 month since the stores are closed and no business. But that's only for 1 month. What if the situation persists for a longer time?

@Alexandoy I am hoping renters will be more understanding and lower rental rates or suspend rent while businesses are closed down.

@Bensen32 We definitely aren't going to be able to open things back up by Easter.

It is nice that many businesses are responding to the crisis with a certain amount of generosity.

I do wonder just how we will be paying for it later. I am sure rates will increase and we will be paying more once this ends and we can go back to normalcy.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I suspect you are probably right. I also think some of the free stuff is actually a bait-and-switch tactic to try to get our business.

Direct TV has made some channels free previews which I think is awesome. I think it's great.

These companies are hoping that you will continue to use them in the future by offering free services now.
