Disappointed Coffee Snob

I am a coffee snob. I'm willing to pay a bit more for the good stuff (coffee shop brew) versus cheaper, plain java.
I'm frugal about almost everything else. I usually buy store brand groceries. I'm not too proud to shop at thrift stores for other items sometimes.
I recently tried a local coffee shop for the first time. I paid $3.50 for a lovely espresso-based drink, with hazelnut syrup added. Then I left.
My taste buds were all set as I got into my car. First sip- big disappointment!
No hazelnut detected at all! No espresso flavor either! It tasted like cheap, plain convenience store coffee.
I guess the barista had no idea what he was doing?
Are there any other coffee snobs on myLot who understand how let down I felt?
(There are much bigger problems in the world, but I'm purposely keeping my topic light tonight.)

You can find lots of great things at Thrift Stores. I am not a coffee drinker. I like hot chocolate.

I don't drink coffee at all, I cannot stand the smell nor the taste of it. There are not too many drinks I dislike more than coffee.

@BloggerDi We had friends who were coffee snobs but when they came to our house, they'd have tea. We always had a laugh once they left.

Oh @JudyEv, no judgment here!
My parents drank instant coffee all the time.

I buy fresh coffee beans from Whole Foods. The paper bags I put them into say Allegro coffee, so I guess that is the brand. I pay $9.99/lb for some while most are $11.99/lb. It ain't cheap but I prefer it to other coffee beans I tried elsewhere. Coffee is one of the things I don't mind paying more for. And cheese is another.

Thanks a lot @lovebuglena. I buy delicious, high-quality beans and grounds for home at fairly reasonable prices too. Good coffee doesn't always have to mean the most expensive.

@BloggerDi I am not sure if what I buy is the most expensive but it is not cheap.

It is a horror when the tea or coffee taste bad.

I'm not a coffee snob as I'm not really into coffee. I drink Starbucks blended drinks for it's the only coffee based drink I can tolerate.
But I do understand you because I may not be able to relate when it comes to coffee but I could as to spending more money in something that I am really fond of.

I appreciate your comments. My husband has never liked coffee at all.

I find 'proper' coffee too strong. I should just ask for a weak coffee I guess.
