So I read a post titled 2020 Year To Thrive by @andriaperry and it made me think. Hope you don't mind me running with you idea. If you haven't read the post you should check it out.
So what was I thinking? As you may know I try to be positive about things but of course, I like most people can not always be positive all the time and this year has really been a test for me. Why do I say that? Well lets take a look at some of the things that have been going on for me.
January was a decent month, no real issues. Then came February and with it I was told on February 4th I would be losing my job at the end of June cause the company would be closing. Not good news but at least I was thinking I had about 5 months to find a job.
On February 14th I was updated from work that it might be the end of April I would be out of work. Again not good news but that still left me 2 and a half months to find something.
On February 21st I am told that my last day at work would be March 27th. Wow, this keeps changing and not for the better but at least that is like a month.
On February 22nd my father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Not good news at all and not a lot of positive ways to look at that at all. Although we still hold out hope that he will beat this.
On February, 24th I am told that the 28th will be my last day at work. Seriously? 4 days.
It's really hard to stay positive with all this.
In our area the second week of March is when all the craziness of the Coronavirus really hits it's peak, people are getting laid off, companies are not hiring and trying to find a job is at a stand still.
So saying my year has not been going so well might be an understatement. How can I spin this into a positive thing? I know there are probably many more that have a worse time going on so I try not to complain.
Alright here are the positives that I can come up with.
- I was planning to buy a new car at the end of March, so the timing of course has put that on hold and it is a good thing I didn't buy it earlier or that would just be one more bill to pay.
- I do have about 8 months of savings and I just paid off a credit card in January that has a good amount on the limit so I have that to fall on if things get really bad.
- My one sister is off work since she works for a school and only lives a mile from my dad so she can check on him often.
- I'm healthy and have a good amount of food and other supplies to get me though a few months without issue.
- I've been in worse situations and survived so I know I can get through this.
I hope you all can find the positives in your situation and that you have the mental and physical strength to get you through these hard times.
