Childcare Course still going. But with annoying changes!

At first we didn't think it would be annoying but now we know, it's annoying and really hard for our hands and minds. I will explain. On Tuesday morning our teacher was explaining that due to this virus, the rules have changed. More cleaning is done every so often during class ( wiping desks and door handles ) and our hands must be washed before class and after every break. And the other rule was that there couldn't be a certain amount of people in the room together so our teacher said that we have to be spilt. First group comes to class on Tuesdays while the others come Wednesdays. The girls I sit with and myself were excited to think one day a week now and us all being together with like 3 other people. But yesterday was hell! We had to cram two days worth of work in one day. Our hands were hurting so much from writing. Not to mention our minds were going crazy! At one point I put my pen down to stretch my fingers but trying to pick that pen back up was difficult. It's like my hand was cramping up. We also have a lot of homework to do by Wednesday. Which can be done but this is NOT the original schedule. And it's bogus that we are still even going to class considering what is going on right now! I completely understand that this is all due to something out of our control but a lot of us, if not the whole class really want this class to be put on hold and we have no idea what the damn delay is!

I think it's weird that don't try to take the theory online and the practical stuff in RL, 'cause that would mean small groups and not so much attendance. But then everyone assumed we'd fix online teaching in half a day, so I just assume everyone else can do it too.

@VivaLaDani13 My friend in Sydney teaches in Wollongong, at the university. They have til 6. april or something like that to sort out how to teach online, but I think they've given the students semester break or something now. I tend to assume that all students have computers and fast enough internet at home. I don't know what the students here do if they don't have that, but the pupils in school get free data-packages from the county.

@Torunn A break may be easier I feel. It's less messy that way but either way I wish them all the best. That's a good idea! I wonder if that will happen during my course for people who don't have internet. We are thinking tomorrow is the last day in class and moving it all to online. Not sure.

@Torunn The teacher was talking about an alternative way to keep teaching and doing our work if our class was postpone but unfortunately not everyone has the right resources at home to do this. Kinda why I still believe a complete postpone would be beneficial for everyone so no one is left behind or confused etc.

They're going to wait until it's too late and then cancel the class. And by too late, I mean someone nearby will get the virus and they'll be scrambling to shut down the class as fast as they can. When in reality, the class needs to be suspended now.

@VivaLaDani13 Just do the best you can. It’s the public transport that worries me the most. Do you have disinfecting wipes you can carry with you?

@moffittjc Yeah I know what you mean. Luckily it's not as packed anymore but sadly that's due to a lot of jobs being lost etc. I don't carry those with me no but once I get to class, we have to wash our hands anyway.

@moffittjc That is exactly what I and almost the rest of the class are afraid of. As well as infecting our loved ones.

Maybe, just maybe, it's considered essential. I know here, many daycares are open because people are still working at essential businesses. Otherwise, I don't know why it's open either. I'm sorry about your hands. I'm sure all that writing is cramping them.

@just4him Class was on today but it was our last day in class until further notice. It will be online for now. We will be testing it out Monday morning and then will attend "the class" online both Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm very interested to know how this pans out.

@just4him Well that I can understand only we aren't in a Daycare Centre. We are only learning which takes place in a building not inside a Daycare Centre. We were meant to be doing work experience in April but now that has been suspended because Daycare Centres don't want students right now. Thank you kindly.

All of this is irrelevant if you have touched your eyes, nose or mouth in-between washing hands while doing work coz you touched the material before the break and you will touch the material after the break. Did you disinfect your notebooks, pens or other things you use during class? Even if you touched your clothes, you will touch them again or others will or someway you may come in contact with the door, desk, wall, etc. The virus can survive on the surface for a while. Long enough to infect people. Or under your footwear. This is serious! Governments, Doctors and Law enforcements aren't panicking for nothing. I am super annoyed at your study centre or institute (whatever it is). Instead of asking you all to stay home and safe they are putting more workload on you. Stressing you all up! Stress weakens the immune system!!!!!

@Daljinder Nope nothing else gets disinfected so you're making great points! And yep! You're so right! So many good points and a lot of that we ( the girls and myself ) didn't think about so that's annoying me more with how we aren't being postponed. Well we got texts during the week that we need to bring in devices such as laptops and iPads so I'm guessing there is a way to learn online only not everyone has these devices and / or internet. So I don't know.

@Daljinder I agree. The girl we was worried about not having the internet, her mother in law bought her that thing-a-ma-gig that you can put the internet on ( yeah I suck with technology lol ) so that was nice of her. She's all set now.

@VivaLaDani13 That sounds better that they are considering online classes. regarding who may not have internet or devices, it sucks but honestly, what other option is safer?

It's like they are just waiting for someone to get sick before they cancel or postpone things, and that's ridiculous.

Why still leave the classroom full of students? There should be a medical team to check there.

@May2k8 The class has been split. For me on Wednesdays, there are only 10 people, including myself in the room instead of the normal over 20 people.

@VivaLaDani13 You cannot focus on what you are doing if you are rushed to write and you are in pain. This is not the correct way to continue this course.

@LadyDuck Thank you for understanding where I was coming from. It really isn't right. It's not what we signed up for. We didn't sign up to have our lessons rushed with our hands hurting us so much. A girl said something on Wednesday and I agree. It's a bit hard to even concentrate at the moment whilst this virus is going on.

It is not right whosoever decided to carry on with the class. Even the multimillion dollar projects at many places are put on hold. But I assume that you paid the course fee and that too a considerable sum, so you are now almost compelled to go by their rules. Really unfortunate .

@Sojourn For me personally, and quite a few in the class, due to how we are financially, we were given a fee waiver. But still, paid by ourselves or got financial support, we should all be in the same boat of being cared for.
