Taking a Long Walk in the Woods Away From People

Canada
March 30, 2020 6:15pm CST
With not being allowed to go to work I do have time for stuff I don't otherwise get a chance to do. My youngest son and I took a video walk through the bush down by the river (the photo is just a local winter scene) where there was absolutely no chance of encountering other people. It's possible no one has explored that particular stretch in years. I will try to upload it here but no promises. I'm a little bit behind the times technologically. At any rate, we intend to make the most of the time we have. There is my woodturning that needs attention and some building projects I would like to get done besides uploading content to my Youtube channels. Anyone have some projects on the go that they otherwise wouldn't have time for?
Wesley (Amy 2) and I go for a quarantine walk in the woods by our home (Southeast New Brunswick, Canada). Lockdown isn't quite as tough when you live off iso...

You gave me an idea to visit a creek and trek a little. But then I'm scared getting bitten by a snake or an accident no doctors available. I would be terrified to go to the hospital because I will be exposed to the virus.

Fortunately, there are no dangerous snakes where we live. Moose, bear, and cougars live in our area but they will steer clear of humans. We make enough noise that it's never been an issue.

@koopharper That's good to know you will be safe. I think making noise will somehow work for snakes as well.

I do have projects, they are still trying to figure out how to get us to earn our pay while not working directly with children. I am doing healthy things, and it sounds like you are as well.

I wish it was possible to work from home for me but not only do they not want us in the factory the worksites we supply with kitchens are all shut down anyway. I have no real trouble keeping myself busy though.

At least you have a nice place to go for a walk.

Living naturally isolated in the bush has its advantages.

We have about 60 acres of mostly woodland, so like you, we have room to roam without seeing anyone. I don't have any projects right now, but thankfully my husband does.

Just being able to get outside breathe and move around makes my life easier. I'd go nuts cooped up in a small apartment for weeks.

We're out in the bush too and retired so there is not much that is different for us. I enjoyed the video thanks.

Except for me being home this place isn't even a little bit different than normal. I do have a few projects that will benefit us in the future so I've no real excuse to be lazy.

Life around here is going on at pretty much the normal pace. The girls appreciate the extra time they aren't spending commuting to class, and it's a little weird to have church services and our community groups meeting online but for the most part, we've been able to adapt pretty a quickly.

Outside of me not working and not being able to go to the discount stores for groceries (because they're in Nova Scotia and the border is closed) it hasn't impacted us much. I should get my EI once all the paperwork goes through. We won't be living high but not suffering either.

@koopharper no Frills in Shediac has good grocery selection and prices. That's where I'll be shopping.

@Morleyhunt We don't have any direct route to get there. We're just as well off going all the way to Moncton. I'll number crunch it though and talk to Francine. Thanx.
