Even tricksters and thieves have themselves a god

Many moons ago, I read The Iliad and The Odyssey and enjoyed the stories of the Gods and their antics. I took photos of sculptures of four of the characters when we were on the cruise ship, Queen Mary 2. I’ve already written about Cassiopeia and Andromeda.
Here are two more, also fashioned by Matthew Wurr (born 1953), a sculptor and modelmaker from the UK.
These are neo-classical pieces. One is Jupiter, the god of the sky and thunder, and, in Ancient Roman religion and mythology, king of the gods. He is associated with the thunderbolt and the eagle.
Mercury is also a major god in Roman religion and mythology. He is the god of financial gain, commerce, communication, travellers, trickery and thieves. In addition, he guides souls to the underworld.
It seems strange to have a god of trickery and thieves but I guess even criminals don’t mind a bit of help from time to time.

So you’re saying I’ve been praying to the wrong god all this time? No wonder my life is so crazy.

@JudyEv I wonder what today is... apparently it is national ferret day, national PbmJ day, National reconciliation day, world autism awareness day, and national burrito day

@Jessicalynnt Well, you have a few choices there. I'll go with the ferret not that I like them that much.

I love the workmanship there. You were really fortunate to be able to sail on the Queen Mary.

I hear from a talk by Sadhguru that India has a God named Nala who cooks the most delicious food.
