The countdown book on the legendary Creedence Clearwater Revival is closing today. I hope you’ve enjoyed this look at one of the best American bands ever. Here’s my favorite CCR song....NOT a big hit.
#1: Long As I Can See the Light
If you had the 45 of yesterday’s song, “Lookin’ Out My Back Door,” all you had to do was flip it over to find this one.
This is a big 180 from most of the other songs on this list. Even the songs with negative messages (“Fortunate Son,” “Bad Moon Rising”) are bouncy, upbeat rockers. Not this one.
Fogerty said the song is about “the loner in me.” And, in this holy season celebrating deliverance, we can find a much deeper meaning. Those who are secular can also find hope in the metaphorical “light” that’s keeping us going.
Thanks for reading. Long live the music of CCR.

I am going to cause a commotion. Weren't you born on the bayou? You need to run through the jungle with proud Mary and Suzie Q to the green river to catch the midnight special.

I had a dozen songs written down before I even started thinking about CCR songs to list. That’s how difficult this was to do.

@JohnRoberts If you had to choose one, what would be your number one song?

@kanuck1 I did my own series on CCR a long time ago. Forget what I picked as #1.

This one doesn't sound familiar to me.
