Sunday 5th April 2020 onwards - With the lockdown curfew intensifying, this has been a period of little but reading and TV watching. Easter was barely noticable in the middle it all, though I was acutely aware that I woul have been at a major annual science fiction convention this Easter, cancelled for the first time since WW2. I took part in an online Zoom vote to select venues for the next two years for the convention.
A science fiction group I used to meet up with in Manchester has taken to meeting online for the duration of the Corona crisis but the messages were mostly not reaching me which was very frustrating.
Tuesday 7th April was a rare burst into excitement when the local wasp population decided to declare war on me. With the weather cruelly improving while we are forbidden to go outside without good reason, I did get to put some laundry out to dry. Going out to bring it back in, I got stung by the first wasp I encountered this year, as it was hiding on the back of a towel I was taking off the line. Later the same day another wasp started buzzing round my main living room light, so much so that the light was rocking and swaying. Getting the wasp with spray or newspapers was impossible as it stayed close to the light-bulb. I eventually got the vacuum cleaner out and sucked the creature right off the lampshade. Round two to me.
My mum phoned on Good Friday which was nice an then all returned to the frustration of not going out for the forseeable future.

@Ronrybs this was my first since the mid 80's - I twice took down wasp nests without getting stung once too - this one was not as painful as past stings and seemed to clear up within a few hours so the stinger may not have got me fully

It's definitely building up a frustration as we are away from loved ones and not sure when we will meet them next in person. Thanks to technology at least we see each other on video calls. Wasp bite can be bad. I hope it's better now

@arunima25 I dread to think how this would go without the internet

@arthurchappell Oh! That would have been like living in stone age..... Staying home and going out only for hunting ( for food).
