As you might have known, I have bought a Calamansi plant in a pot a few weeks ago. There were already fruits when I bought the plant. This afternoon, I had to harvest some of them as they were getting ripe.
Calamansi or Calamondin is a citrus plant. We call it Calamansi in my home country Philippines.
I use the fruit juice for marinating my pork or chicken meat with garlic and let the marinated meat overnight before cooking or frying them. I use the juice too for making calamansi tea with honey. It is very healthy and tangy in taste.
Have you tried calamansi juice for your cooking?
How was your day? I hope you are okay and still keeping yourself safe. Thanks for reading.

This fruit is very healthy and common for drinking the juice when we have colds. We drink mostly calamansi juice in the Philippines, a cold drink is very refreshing in summer. It was indeed fun.
I am glad you have a nice productive day @DianneN

how ironic that you can have a flourishing calamansi plant in germany while mother never had luck with them. yes, she has bought pots with fruit time several times.
i'm assuming you keep them indoors when it's cold?
i think the smell and taste of calamansi is better than lemon. there's no bitter aftertaste.
by the way, how much calamansi and garlic do you use for marinating?

@thelme55 but when you're here, you can use as many garlic and onion as you can! hahaha! oh, and eat dried /salted / smoked fish!

@hereandthere Yes, indeed. The smells of the garlic there in Pinas while cooking is so delicious. I miss those dried fish already. Yummy!

That is strange @hereandthere. This is the first time I have bought calamansi pot and it is doing well. When the weather is warm, I put the calamansi pot in the balcony and put it back again in the living room as it is still cold in the evening outside. I do that every day until it is already really warm in the evening.
Yes, the smell and the taste is better than the lemon or lime.
It depends on how plenty the meat is. I mostly put 3-4 calamansi juice for marinating 1-kilo meat and not so much garlic as it will be stinking here when I use plenty. So I just use 3 cloves.

I have bought it in Aldi a few weeks ago @Marilynda1225. There were already fruits when I bought it but they were still young at that time.

Those ripe calamansi fruits would make a refreshing pitcher of calamanso juice. I use calamansi a lot for marinating and for dips.
