My "frugal" dinner this week. Responding to Coral's "write-off."

OK, so there is no write-off, but in these odd times, it behooves us to have inexpensive meals that we can throw together. Here is what I had for dinner the other night, and what I may have again tonight. Made some beef Top Ramen. Added asparagus and inexpensive steak. Added raw white onions. It was delicious and filled me up. Total cost? Maybe $1.50. What are some of your favorite frugal meals at this time?

Last week my hubby boiled up a bunch of rice. So most of our suppers featured rice. Rice and canned kidney beans, for instance.

@sallypup I had canned beans a few times during my stays in US and UK long time back. But that was long ago!

@TheHorse Sure did. We also finished off stuff like hubby's Easter shortbread and strawberry yogurt.

I love Ramen noodles but I rarely use all of the seasoning as it's too strong for me.

@TheSojourner I just want to have a balance between ruffage, veggies, carbs, and protein.

Beef is prohibited for us. Yet, I believe that the $1.50 is quite good. For me, the frugal bit would be two bread pieces thoroughly done on a pan(Tawa), with butter and tea. And that would be roughly of the same cost in a good restaurant. But may be 0.75 USD in a subsidized office canteen.

@TheHorse yes. Not very healthy, but not very unhealthy. And a reminder of the British Raj times!

This looks good, my favorite frugal meals? A simple asparagus risotto, no meat, or eggs and asparagus with a bit of melted butter and grated Parmesan cheese.

We aren't eating frugally necessarily...just the usual. I eat a lot of soup with Ramen noodles added to them. Yours sounds good; but no raw onions for me please!

I had mung beans soup with dried fish. The dish is about 6 servings and it cost me half a dollar if I include the fuel in my computation.

I used to eat a lot of cereal when I taught an 8 AM college class every day. I've gotten away from it.
