How MyLot helped me make about $50.50 yesterday.

I noticed that my left headlight had burned out yesterday. It happens now and then. The "brights" worked, but not the "dims," on my left side.
I'm not going to be "that guy"--the jerk that drives around with his brights on, blinding oncoming motorists--so I called my local Nissan dealer, priced a headlight bulb, and went and scored one.
The cost was $25.
I was able to remove the old bulb, put the new one in, and be up and running in about 30 minutes. Kudos to Nissan for not making it one of those impossible tasks that requires $50 of labor for a simple bulb installation.
Are there certain maintenance procedures that you do on your own car?

@TheHorse 5 dollars. He went ahead and changed them for me after showing me where the little pull up tabs were to drop the lens.
I couldnt make sense of it from the book and that was the first one I had that you didnt change the big bulb which was lens and all and held in by screws.

Yes. I can drive it to the repair shop all by myself.
I used to be able to do things like oil changes. Now? Too old (me) and too complicated (the car).

I'm not very skilled at it myself, but the other half changes the brakes on our cars.

When I had my Jeep CJ7, I did everything myself on that Jeep, including restoring it back to its full grandeur and glory. That baby was my pride and joy. Owned it for 15 years and put 316,000 miles on it, and it was still purring like a kitten when I sold it to a Jeep collector. I have a Ford F-150 now, and I don't do any of my own work on it anymore. Part of the reason is because of my lack of time; but the big reason is just that new vehicles have become so complex and confusing and difficult to maintain on your own. I think they are designed that way now on purpose to force you to have to go to the dealer for maintenance and repairs. I've had my truck for almost 10 years now, and I'm still trying to figure out how to open the hood! lol

I take care of the fluids. Other than that, I need a mechanic.

No. My husband is at the age when he lets the experts do the maintenance.
