Zoom your life.....

Not only zoom it,,But you have option to Skype it, Whereby it, WhatsApp it and so on....Yes I am talking about the advantage that technology has brought in our life and we realize it even more now when we are in lockdown. In self isolation away from dear and near ones. Social distancing will not over shadow the fact that we are social beings and we need our dose of feel good factor by being with our friends and family and loved ones. We love those smiles, hugs and gestures to show that someone cares for us and we do care for someone.
. And that need is even more when we are in this stressful situation. We need more dose of our oxytocin and dopamine to feel good and to beat the blues that isolation can bring.
Never in my life I felt so grateful to technology as I feel in current scenario. I am in touch with my family, friends, colleagues, clients and students through these video calls and group calls. I am able to see their smiling faces. send them my gesture of hugs and flying kisses, share a joke, laugh, cry and even share anxieties and concern. I get to see my mom who is alone in her four walls and miles away from me.
. And seeing her good and chatting with her for a while relieves me a lot.
And even mom is using these technologies to conduct her classes as university are shut but classes are going on. And she is getting better and better with use of it for both personal and professional use
My daughters are engaged for few hours each day with online classes and are learning new skills using these Zoom sessions and other online learning platforms.
So in this current time I would say technology is the biggest boon and Internet is the biggest life support after your basic needs. So the technology that took us far from our social life and loved ones is at present helping us to stay social and in touch with loved ones. That's the irony!
. And that need is even more when we are in this stressful situation. We need more dose of our oxytocin and dopamine to feel good and to beat the blues that isolation can bring.

Totally agree. I guess they will be our savior for a long time from now as the situation might not go back to the previous one very soon.

So do you make voice call or video call through some app? I have a FB account but I have not visited it in last few months.

@LadyDuck Even I am being taught about these video call apps by my husband and daughters. I am not tech savvy. But I am updating myself as I have to use it for my professional work too. And same way mom has to learn it. She always hated these stuff but now she needs to take online classes for her university. Perhaps need of the hour makes us do things which we would have not done otherwise.

I am not much into technology. But guess, the need of the time makes you pick and learn things. I need them more now for both personal and professional reasons.

@DianneN Yes. My professional life has changed and with no personal interaction with students and class I am not liking it much.

Yes seeing them gives a feel of face to face interaction. I can play with my mom's dog through video call. She jumps around and is excited to hear our voices calling her
. My daughters look forward to visit the dog and play with her in summer vacation.

These platforms are getting more used now in this quarantine time. There was a report on it. Especially more used by Indians.
