Elastic Shortage!

United States
April 26, 2020 8:51am CST
Can't find 1/4" elastic anywhere in our town. Walmart is sold out. The only place you can find it is online and then it takes weeks to arrive. So, I put a message on Facebook that I needed some for the masks I am making. One of my former coworkers is sending me a bunch of nylon loops that will work just as well. So good to have people that are willing to step up and help out. She is also going to order more and donate them. Strength in numbers!

That's good that you've sourced some loops.

I have a good supply of them, but they will soon dwindle to nothing. My supplier was able to get elastic and more stretchy bands and I am having my husband will pick it up for me today.

@JudyEv I could use ties if needed. However, I was given a bunch of elastic yesterday. Saved!!

@ElusiveButterfly That's really good. Could you use ribbon ties instead?

If you need I can send you the elastic, I have some feet at home and I am sure it's available here.

That is very kind of you Anna. Fortunately my supplier was able to get a large amount of it donated!

It's amazing the amount of things that you cannot find in stock right now.

You can't even buy non-essential items in our state anymore. Can't go into Walmart to buy craft items, clothing, household goods, etc.

Makes you wonder how long it takes to make a roll of elastic.

The ones I make use rope for ties, and so far there's no shortage of that!

My supplier was able to get a huge donation of elastic and stretchy bands and I am getting a bunch of them today. If I need to make ties I will use old tshirts and cut them up. Thank you for making masks. There is such a huge demand for them!

My husband is getting frustrated when I send him to look for something. If it isn't in sporting goods, he is lost.
