A post from @sharon6345 about her skipping rope today has brought back a lot of good memories about this exercise.
I have skipped rope all my life except for the last 10 years due to health problems.
I sure miss the fun of jumping rope.
I remember I had a hard time when I was a little girl to get the hang of it, but once I did, there was no stopping me.
Were you skipping rope as a kid?

I think it was mainly a girls' thing though male athletes use it as part of workout.

@m_audrey6788 , I can't anymore either. Health reasons, otherwise I would still love to do it.

When I was on my high school varsity basketball team, we had to jump rope every day at practice. It helped us with our vertical jump, which is oh so important in the game of basketball. Also, interestingly, we all had to learn how to twirl a baton, as that built up muscles in our fingers, which in turn made us better dribblers and ball handlers. We had a very innovative and creative coach!

@marlina When I started 9th grade, our high school was brand new. Our first basketball season, we lost every game. In my sophomore year, we won half our games and lost half our games. In my junior year, we won 75% of our games, won districts and regionals, and went to the state finals before losing. In my senior year, we went undefeated and won the state championship. Our coach built our school into a basketball powerhouse in just four years time. He was truly innovative in his approach to the game.

I remember jump rope. It was one of the favorite games the neighborhood kids would play together. That was back in the day when kids came outside of their homes and played in their yards and on the sidewalks.; and parents used to sit on the front porch and talk each other. Those days are gone. What I remember the most about jump rope was that I was never really very good at it. But I loved it!!

Skipping rope was definitely one of the fun things we did as kids.
I wouldn't be able to jump now though
