So bummed

Well my stupid beans are still giving me fits. The ones I sowed in dirt never came up, and the four that I tucked into a wet paper towel did finally sprout, but three of them have mold on them! I guess I need to find the sweet spot where they're kept damp, but not too wet. (The dark spot in the photo is where the tea bag was sitting, so that's not a concern). I put one in a teabag yesterday and another one this morning, so we'll see if I have better luck with that. I just don't understand what's going on with these beans. I've never planted a bean that didn't sprout and deliver a nice plant. Tomatoes are still doing ok, and of the six lettuce seeds I planted, gfve have come up, so at least that's a good germination rate.

Did you soak the beans in water before planting? That was my father's advice when I was in grade school and working on a project for our gardening subject.

I didn't for the first three, but I did for one after that, and it hasn't come up either.

@Alexandoy Hard to say. I only did it with the one bean.

@Ldyjarhead so that means soaking is not really that effective.

I'm starting my seeds indoors, and most will go into containers when ready to go outside. Not sure how many I'll actually put into the ground.

It is always best here to plant around Victoria Day in Canada.

I had a terrible time last year with beans not coming up. Hope things go better this year, for both of us.

This honestly has me stumped. I've never had this happen before.

Hope you have luck this time with beans. I had a good produce of tomatoes last month. I have no seeds with me and many of my pots are empty.

My tomatoes are doing great so far, and now the lettuce is up, so that's something, I guess. Too bad I don't even like tomatoes.

If you are doing great with tomatoes why not focus on them only.

Because I want to have other things to eat. I don't even like tomatoes. I grow them and give away to friends and neighbors.

I don`t know too much about planting but I think there are some seeds that just don`t grow easily if not planted well

I've planted beans plenty of times before and never had one that didn't come up. They're the easiest thing the grow (or at least they WERE!), so I don't know what the deal is here.

Hope you figure out your bean dilemma. We've had some much frost overnight lately that I expect some people will have problems if they planted already

The beans look like they're sprouting though. Won't they still produce good bean plants?

They've already got mold growing on them. I'm not going to plant that.

I don't usually bother with vegetables but I've planted some this year.
