Red Or Orange?

I'm doing it.
I'm going to dye my hair.
No, I'm not going to bleach it first.
I was trying to choose between a rose color or an orange color, and I think I'll be going with the rose color.
I have two choices, I could dye my hair blonde first and then a week or so later, dye it the rose color. Or I could just go with the rose color. I think my hair will turn out better if I do the blonde color first. I don't bleach my hair because I feel like it does more damage than just dyeing it one color, waiting a few weeks and then dyeing it another.
Eventually, I'll dye it the purple color that garnier has.
This is the color I am referring to for the curious.
If you dye your hair, do you get it done professionally or do it yourself?
Olia Ammonia Free Hair Color in Dark Rose Quartz by Garnier. Permanent hair color, with flower oils, to restore rough, dull hair back to silky, shiny hair.

The very first time I had my hair dyed, my cousin and aunt bleached my hair and then dyed it right after. They dyed it a black color because that is what I wanted. I don't like my natural color, and I look better with red hair.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Oh I see, But it will make your hair more dry isn't it?

@Kathze Yes, bleach can damage the hair. They dyed my hair before hair dye kits were made with plant based oils.
Even dyeing your hair too close together can cause it to become brittle, but I will most likely wait a week or two in between.

Professionals can be so expensive though! If I had the money I probably would, but since I don't...

@Nevena83 Maybe one day, right? Though if I can get the purple color that I want at home, there will be no need for me to go to a salon. That's the only reason I'd go, for a color that I can't otherwise do myself.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yes and I can just color it again if the color goes away in a month

@m_audrey6788 True. I tend to get the "permanent" hair color, and it lasts until the roots start to grow out again.

It's easier and cheaper that way, isn't it?

I think the rose sounds best too. I used to dye my hair myself 99% of the time. Once I retired, I let it go all grey. It's so nice not to have to dye it!

@LindaOHio I've never dyed my own eyebrows, but I think I am going to have to do so. Unless, of course, I just pluck and trim them until they are a thin line. I think most people that dye their hair a unique color do dye their eyebrows. I can't think of anyone that kept their eyebrows natural.

I need to get back into the habit of dyeing it. I feel more confident with my hair dyed. I wonder if I should dye my eyebrows too? Or maybe I'll just pluck them so they are less noticeable.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Would you dye your eyebrows rose? That would be unique!

it's a very nice color :O I've only had highlights done once at a salon, it was fun but I realized it was too much upkeep for a lazy bones like me

I've never gone to a salon for color, and I am not sure that I ever will. I've become lazy with dyeing my hair too. I used to dye it every thirty days, then every three months, now it's maybe once a year.

@isweartokira I tried that once. It was a purple dye that I bought from amazon or etsy, I can't remember which. You could see the purple if I was under a light, but otherwise no. I guess that worked out since I was working at a place that didn't allow unnatural colors.
Eventually I will dye my hair purple using the kit that Garnier has.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I'm content with my mouse brown hair, even dyeing it at home seems like too much work. have you ever dyed it an unnatural color? just for fun

I think it looks pretty. I wouldn't be bold enough to dye my hair an unnatural color. Besides at my age, I think it would look like I was trying to recapture my youth or something.

I don't see it that way. Those that are older than me that I've seen dye their hair funky colors? It just makes them seem more fun and lively.
What a paler color? Like a pale blue or a pale pink?

I will. I'll have to dye it blonde first, and I'l take a picture before I dye my hair blonde, after I dye my hair blonde and then when I dye it the rose color.

I do my own and since my hair doesn't grow very fast I don't have to do it very often.
I think that the color you chose will look very nice

I used to get my hair cut at the salon then dye my hair. It was so much easier as my hair used to grow faster than it does now.
I'll share a picture eventually. The more I think on it, the more likely I'll go platinum blonde first.

I dyed my hair black once or twice. I have a very pale complexion, so everyone called me Cher.
Red's usually work better with my complexion.

@thelme55 I will. I am going to post a picture when I turn it blonde as well. If I can figure out how to make a collage type of photo (one that will fit within the parameters here) then I will post a before, during and then after photo as well.

I won't be buying the dye until the beginning of the month, but I'll probably go blonde first, then the rose quartz color and eventually purple. I'll share a photo of the rose quartz once it's done.

I know people get it professionally done all the time, but I think it's far too expensive. I'm glad that garnier now has a home kit for more funky colors.

@MommyOfEli2013 I'm hoping that their vibrant colors will work as good as I think they will. I've used a red from them before that was on the precipice between natural and like crayon red, and it worked really well..
