School May Start in July?

If I were the governor of California, cancel the schooling until late August at the earliest.

It might be a good idea to get the children back into school if even for a while.

When my first husband was in the Navy we had friends in El Cajon. At that time they had year round schools, with only 3/4 of the kids in school at a time. 6 weeks on 2 weeks off. Here in Kansas pretty much all of our schools are air conditioned. I wonder if your governor is doing that to a.) make up for what was missed or b.) be proactive in case there is another shut down from virus in the fall.

I doubt Newsome will do it. It's contrary to all else he has stated. He has sworn California will never be allowed any sense of normalcy until immunity (impossible) or vaccine (remote at this point) so it depends on pressure placed on him by growing discontent by a state population being economically crushed into dust.

That is so stupid. One of the reasons why we have summer is because it is too hot for kids to go to school. California should know this because it is hot there. I couldn't imagine going to school in July. August was hard enough, having to walk home in 120 degree weather, it was terrible.

Here in my country it is not possible, we are still in quarantine and the school year ends the first week of July.

That seems odd. I would think August would have been more likely.

I think it will still depend on the situation. If the coronavirus situation controls well, perhaps the schools can open earlier. In my city the schools seem to open on May 11 but I haven't got a confirmation yet. I think they are still estimating it. I personally think later will be better anyway.

That is very odd.....why not just start in the fall like normal?

here school and campus start on may 29. i am not sure if there is any changes about the announcement
