Are you feeling the isolation?

I certainly am feeling the isolation. We drove over for takeout yesterday. While trying to get my food, I ran across a lady, without a mask, who was hovering around the doorway. I kept my distance and learned that she had a "crew" who worked for her during the day and she was buying them supper. Good for her to reward them. She stated that she felt everyone was being cavalier about the virus threat. Something easy to do in our particular neighborhood, especially since our entire county has had only 5 cases so far. But the facts as I see them are that the reason we have only had five cases is that people have taken the threat seriously and done what was required. I might just end up being the last person wearing a mask to the store. But I will continue to wear it until I have some assurance that I will not catch the virus, meaning until I have received a vaccine. God only knows when that will happen. I pray that for once that our President is correct in saying a vaccine will be available in January. But, with his long track record of inaccuracies and failed promises, I do not think I will be holding my breath. Edit: I always seem to forget to credit the photo. It is mine.

@mrki444 Ah, if ours open it will be next week and there will be lots of restrictions to go along with.

Same here, though the governor of Oregon is going to allow some of them to reopen in a week or so.

I am fine, we walk here around, we talk from distance to our neighbors, we do not feel the isolation. I will wear a mask until a vaccine is not available, tested and confirmed to work for sure.

That is the only way for us older folks to go I think. I understand younger people who must work to eat, don't have much choice. Thirty-five years ago, I would have been in exactly the same position. Even so, I would be wearing a mask and doing everything I could to protect myself.

@cperry2 I never took risks, I am sure that even 35 years ago I would have preferred to wear a mask.

@LadyDuck Like lots of young folks out there, I took all kinds of risks. Stupid ones now that I look back at them. But I would have worn a mask if I thought it would protect me.

Since the before the 8th of March we have been restricted on all levels so now we are almost totally fed up with everything but in all truth we have another two months of it with them lifting off the restrictions bit by bit and that is if there is not another episode of it comng along. I am trying to find a more breathable mask as the ones I have make you way too hot and up to now there has been nothing else. A lot here have not been able to afford the rip off prices they have been charging already I have had to sew the straps back on. Stay as safe as you can all you can.

@cperry2 I can understand how you feel but for the people who live in high rise flats being able only to go out for shopping has been quite bad. I mean for someone who is used to being at home its not too bad a deal but for those who are at their job all day long and now find themselves in this siituation. Now Sanchez wants to prolong the confinement another 15 days but he does not say why or how or when we are really just guessing at the moment. The lifting of restrictions a few only is supposed to start on the 11th of May so now we are all puzzled as to what is going on. Because yesterday he was all set for that date and everyone was geared up to get going albeit only a little bit. I know of the high mortality rate also in the US pretty bad.

In some ways, I envy you there in Spain. Yes, the conditions are harsh, and I would be absolutely crazy if I could not even go outside. But you are not reopening just to try and save the economy. Our president is the most ineffectual leader this country has ever seen. Even suggesting people inject disinfectants into the body to get rid of the virus. He is much more interested in making dollars (and looking good) opposed to saving lives. At least Spain is doing all it can to get you past the danger. ] We are doing what we can and will continue to do so until a vaccine is available and I've had the injection.

Our state is doing wonderfully well but I hope people don't suddenly think it's all over.

Some in our Southern states are trying to act that way. I pray they will not regret the choice in the next few weeks.

@JudyEv That's to be expected, I suppose. it doesn't help any when people in power are urging them on, encouraging them to fight the restrictions even. But, when the piper comes for payment, I wonder if they will be ready to pay the price?

@cperry2 Beautiful photo! I understand what you're saying about Trump. I actually didn't know he said that. The last thing I heard about Trump regarding this virus was that he apparently took two tests out of curiosity. As for the vaccine? I wouldn't hold my breath either. He doesn't exactly have a good track record of telling the truth as you've said.

He's moved the vaccine date up a bit, now saying the end of this year. The man will say anything if he things it will make people feel good. Doesn't make him any difference if is true or not.

I don't think anyone knows when the vaccine is coming, so coming with a date is a bit weird. I think they have found a medicine that seemed to work now though, one of the medicines made for some other virus. But it'll have to be tested more I guess. I feel the effects of working from home, I want to throw my computers out the window but I'll wait another week or two 'cause I'm hoping we'll be back in school in 1.5 week, at least partially.

I have very little confidence a vaccine will be here before two years' time. I know that our President likes to get up in front of the camera and say things that are designed to make people feel good but 95% of the stuff he puts out there is just wrong or uninformed. When he came out and asked the doctor leading his team if injecting bleach or disinfectants into the human body might not be a way to kill the virus, we got a very good look at his ability to lead. Of course, he has since tried to back away from this. There is indeed a medication that is in the final approval mode, Remdesivir. It is not a cure and it is only to be used in the severest cases where it has been shown to reduce the length of hospital stays for some patients, but not for all of them. It is, however, a step in the right direction. Take care, and keep safe.

pretty picture. I haven't been wearing a mask yet. Our county has 145 cases so far and three deaths. Our stay at home order ends May 8. Yeah I hope we get a vaccine soon.

We are doing pretty good in the number of cases so far, this county has had 5, and no deaths. One of those cases is for a resident but they never came back to our county from Washington State where they were diagnosed. I still will wear a mask. Stay safe as you can.
