I Love Pets

I know that a lot of you have posted Discussions and pictures of your pets; but I'm sure there are those that have not. I'd like to hear about the pets that you have; and maybe you could even post a picture if you like. Our last dogs were two white Pomeranians which we rescued from a shelter in Pennsylvania (a 5-hour drive). They were both male and named Max and Ice. Due to circumstances beyond our control (Ice kept tunneling under the fence and going across the street or into the nursery or somewhere else where he could have been hit by a car or been taken), we surrendered them to the Humane Society. We decided not to get any more dogs. It's too painful when they get old; and we are getting old ourselves; and it's harder to take care of them. Max, the dog on the left, would jump more than 2 feet into the air when it was dinner time or when we would come home. Just like a little spring. He was the cutest little thing. Ice is on the right. He and I bonded the most; and I cried when I had to give up those two little balls of fur. So that's my story...what's yours? Photo Credit: Photo is my own

Your babies were so beautiful. It breaks my heart that you had to give them up. You know how much I love pets. I grew up with cats and dogs as did my kids. I had a true deep felt bond with Chester, our English Springer Spaniel and Doodles.

Thanks. It's been a couple of years; and I still miss them terribly and wonder if they're happy in their new home. (They were adopted right away.)

Sorry you had to do this, but you were kind enough to think of the dogs. Still breaks my heart, adorable. I talk bout my two cats all the time. I lost Cassie, my cocker spaniel at 14 y/o, she ran away shortly after losing Dustin. I had Momma Kitty (Dustin's cat) for 24 years. Longer than I had my son. And I had many dogs growing up.

Thank you for sharing your story. That was too bad about Cassie. That breaks my heart. Momma Kitty lived an extraordinarily long life! Dogs have always been my favorite.

Sadie and Annabelle
That must have been devastating to give them up. They sure are cute! Annabelle, is my 9 year old Chihuahua (with the darker fur) I have had since she was a puppy. My great aunt's niece took in a pregnant stray, and Annabelle was one of the puppies. Sadie (with the lighter coat) is 7, but I only adopted her the day before 2019 Thanksgiving. I thought Annabelle could use a sibling, and my best friend knew someone who was trying to find another home for her dog because of a surprise baby and two other huge dogs. Annabelle wants to be Sadie's best friend, but Sadie isn't too interested. She has warmed up to her over time, and I think as time goes by Sadie will warm up to her more. Sadie is just a little alpha, but I think she has given Annabelle some confidence (Annabelle is sweet and submissive).

I bought a very small and cute German shepherd. and named her Luna. She was very small as she was only 2 months old. It was difficult for me to play with her as she had small sharp teeth and she often bit me. I was worried because my skin is very thin since I had chemotherapy. So I said hello from the distance except when I gave her her food or a snack. And she grew. And all of a sudden, I don“t know when, I discovered that she did not bite me any longer. And that her teeth were very big but it did not matter because she only licked me with love

I think you know all about my babies. Bella we just lost in January and Daisy who will soon be 5 years old. They are both dachshunds. I still miss Bella so much! She was my baby girl. She was abused when I took her in when she was a year and a half. She was 13 when she passed away.

@LindaOHio Yes, we will. I'm doing a lot better but I do have moments where it feels like it just happened.

We are more cat people but we have lots of little birds here so we haven't bothered to get another cat. I've had pet sheep which I loved but now we travel quite a bit so no pet at all seems best at the moment. I'm sorry you had to give up Max and Ice. I'm sure it hurt very much.

Yes, it did; but now we don't have to worry about them if we go away for a few hours. But there's nothing on earth better than the way you're greeted when you come home. I miss that.

I take it as a challenge when I have a dog like that. But sometimes it is for the best.

My husband did everything he could to fix the fence; but he kept getting out. I didn't want to go through having him get hit by a car.

Unfortunately, due to my allergies, I don't have any pets. My girlfriend does have a dog, and I can be around it for short periods of time, but I have to limit the time so that I don't get all congested, stuffy, and sneezing! If I sleep over at her house, I have to load up on lots of allergy medicine, so mostly she stays over at my house.

My husband is very allergic to cats and a lot of other things. He can't be in a house that has cats...We prefer dogs anyway.
