Saturday Flew By!

I didn't manage to get up early and head to town to see who was at the Farmer's Market today so I didn't get any fresh vegetables. Boo! I spent the majority of the day outside today. We are trying to get the garden planted and that is going slowly due to the lateness in me planting seed. So far we have a row of green beans and a half a row of potatoes. Next I will be adding the squash and I don't know what will be next. It depends on what grows the fastest. I have several pumpkin vines that have poked through the ground in another area behind the chicken coop. I plan to also plant some watermelon seed back there. I have some in pots but only one has come up so far. My other big chore today was picking up limbs from the storm last Sunday. I have just about all of those picked up except for the far field. I am hoping to get that area done before the rain hits next week on Wednesday. Then I will be ready to cut more privet down and work on the downed trees. My tan is coming along nicely but it is almost time for sunscreen as the temperatures rise into the 80's. How did you spend your Saturday? ©Karen Gros; All Rights Reserved

I transplanted flowers today and did yard work. Still too wet here to try to work the garden.

Yep, the low parts in the yard need filling in. It's on the list of things to do. Also need to work in the chicken coops and move Righty over to the younger girls. Fun, fun.

Where was that photo taken? And is that a ghost in the picture?

That is the far side of the yard here. Oh I see what you see now. There was a fire going there earlier. that's where all the limbs and sticks get burned.

@moffittjc The spirits are all in the house!! We actually had a photo of a little boy in old time nightgown holding a candle and looking around the island. We have found toys such is a dinosaur and army men right after we moved in before grandson even came here and he was too young for army men then. We have definitely had some odd things happen.

You get hot weather early. It looks like a park in your photo. I've had a rough day but have gotten through it.

True. We get only a few days of Spring and it goes right to summer. Our temperature may hit 90 this weekend. I hope not! It's too soon for that. It has been nice outside with a slight breeze and temps in mid 80's this week.

@kareng That's too fast for hot temps for me. I just wish the wind wasn't gusting at my house.

@sallypup We are good for now. Mid 80's is not bad at all. It's the upper 90's or in triple digits that is too much.

@kareng Sorry you were not able to go to the market. It sounds like you were busy outside with your garden. Saturdays are the Jewish Sabbath and if the weather is nice I sit out on our porch with my cat and a book.

I also slept later than normal. My husband and I have been staying up later and later at night. With me busy all day with my mom and housework and garden, we don't have any time together. So we watch television and talk until the wee hours. We need to have a cut off time to go to bed!

@kareng I understand. You need that time to yourselves too.

@Hannihar Yes, some days I don't have much interaction with my mom at all if she sleeps all day.

That was before the storm last Sunday. It is not all neat like that now. I have to get sticks and limbs up so the hubby can mow. It's time for that again too.

Plenty! I am itching to start a new blanket too for my granddaughter Brinley. It's going to be hot here soon though so that may have to wait for Fall.

You had a busy day! Have a great Sunday! It will be around 70 today; and then next week it will be in the 50s.
