Made Brownies for my Neighbor

While out walking around in the yard earlier I saw my neighbor. The one that lost his wife two years ago. We started talking about his wife. He never talks about her. He brought up how he missed her brownies.
She was an excellent cook. Everything she made was like you get in a restaurant. And she made all of her meals and desserts homemade. He said he has tried making them using her recipe but could not get them like hers. I felt so sorry for him.
I changed the subject and talked about his little dog, Oreo. What a cute name. She is like his baby. He cooks for her. And is such good company for him.
I came home and made him a pan of brownies. I tried to make them as much like his wife's as possible. She used walnuts instead of pecans. Lots of little things she would tell me about her cooking.
I took them over and he smiled so big, and his eyes teared up as he said, no you didn't. And he walked away with the brownies. I told him you are welcome and to enjoy. He was shaking his head as he walked inside.
