I did not get an offer

My pay checks have a two to three month lag because of summer break, so I am looking around a bit at jobs.
I am on a job website called Indeed, and I submitted my resume for a position as a caregiver for the town ten miles away.
It turns out that looking at my salary, I make too much when I do work, so he would not offer me the position.
We had a nice visit. I had driven over an hour to come into the office. I had to wait an extra forty five minutes.
So, while we were in Wichita hubby noticed one of his favorite places had opened back up.
I tried to tell him he would be disappointed. He would not listen.
They are not doing their full menu yet. They had only been open two days.
So I was all over Wichita yesterday afternoon and then came home and wrote for Textbroker.
Today, in just a little bit, I will go meet my friend Jane at the Reservoir for socially distant coffee and visit. I have not seen her for two months.
So, it is Saturday, what are you doing?

When do Kansas Schools go on summer break? Are they already on it?
A friend of mine is in healthcare and she is struggling because they aren't giving any of them many hours. She works in a mental health home. The places that people are sent after their hospital eval and before they go home.

We have had the buildings shut down since middle March. We were the first state to do that. Most schools in the state have their final week the week before Memorial Day. With the skills she has she could also look at homecare or hospice. That was what I was applying for and they always have plenty of hours. It is just that I no longer have an active CNA so I would make their company minimum. That is a full 25% less than my regular salary.

@GardenGerty That is when our schools used to close too, but now they start later and stay until June.
How hard is it to renew your CNA? I think my aunt had to do a renewal every few years, but I can't remember what steps she had to go through to do it. I would imagine something like that would still be available even during our pandemic.
She is sticking with it for the time being, she's only been with the company since the beginning of this year or very late last year. I will let her know about homecare or hospice though, just in case. Thank You.

@ScribbledAdNauseum If I could find someone who would do it, I could do what they usually call a 40 hour check list. You do usually have to keep up some continuing ed requirements, but as long as you are working as a CNA it does not expire. CMA--next step up does require a class every two years, which makes sense because that is the medication portion of the training.

Sounds like you have a good plan. I wonder if there will ever be a time where you can just relax. I'm glad you can see your friend after so much time. I miss getting together and chatting with the girls.
I'm not doing much this Saturday except taking a shower at my dad's house. I still don't have hot water, and those cold showers are painful.

@AmbiePam Any chance you can just look for a new place and then laugh?

@GardenGerty They keep saying they are trying, and now they are using the virus as an excuse. Yet they had time to fix the pool that hasn't been used in over a year. I keep telling myself that some day I'll look back and laugh.

Why don't you apply as a Covid tracker? They health department is dying for people to do that. I was thinking of doing that myself. It is short term and most of the work can be done remotely.

I have not heard of anything like that here. I will have to do a search. I had thought I would be hired by the census, but was not. I think Covid shut the in person census down.

@GardenGerty hey are hiring all over the country as far as I know. Check with your local health department or Indeed for your state.

Never have been able to. In some ways I wish I had argued with him, that $9.00 (what I would be offered) is better than No bucks an hour. I was already skeptical though because he was forty five minutes late for the appointment and then accused me of being unhappy with him.

@GardenGerty yeah, sounds better that you did not take this one. Are there any local respite care agencies?

It was very nice to catch up, as we have not seen each other in two months. I need to believe that the Lord will provide and I need to make the most of my online earning time to do my part.

This is a job that often has openings and it is an essential job. He just said I make too much money to try to take the job he had open. It is kind of like when they tell you that you are "overqualified".

I think working online can be a better option so you don't have to get out of the house anymore.

I am going to have to work harder at doing online stuff. Weather was gloomy a bit for Mother's Day, but it still was a good day.

They do not offer very much in the way of extended school year here. I think they are not even sure that they will have it. There is a community mental health agency that does summer day camps and some paras work there. Because I do not want to cross any lines on confidentiality, I do not apply for it, because a lot of our students are also day campers. Not sure if or when they will do it, either with the virus.

I am not doing anything that I should be at this time. I napped after lunch, on the sofa, while hubby listened to old movies on television.

I originally was going to go camping this weekend, but the weather forecast called for heavy rains all weekend, so I cancelled the camping trip and decided to work all day today instead (since I had nothing better to do because it would be raining all day). But guess what? It never rained! It was beautiful and sunny all day long! Now I wish I had not volunteered to go into work!
