Hummus is a dip, spread or savory dish made from cooked, mashed chickpeas (garbanzo beans), blended with tahini, lemon juice and garlic. The actual origin and date of hummus consumption is unknown. The earliest known written recipe for a dish, hummus bi tahini (chickpeas with tahini). is in cookbooks from Cairo in the 13th century. Hummus is a common part of everyday meals in various countries and served in different ways. For example, for Palestinians and Jordanians, hummus is often served as a warm dish with bread for breakfast, lunch or dinner. In Palestine, hummus is usually garnished with olive oil, mint leaves, paprika and parsley. Chickpeas have a decent amount of fiber, protein, Vitamin B6 and manganese. I tried a commercial brand of hummus and found it inedible. It had a lot of garlic in it -- yechh! Have you ever made or tried hummus? Photo Credit: Pixabay

I do not care for it, but I know many do. I have never liked chickpeas.

I love chickpeas; but the commercial hummus that I tried was terrible!

@LindaOHio I would think making it homemade would be the key.

There is many varieties of ready-made hummus at our grocery store. I like most of them but I really the roasted garlic flavor.

I love it! I make it from scratch and include some yogurt to make it a bit creamier. Sooooooo good.

Good tip. Do you put a lot of garlic in it? That's what I don't like.

Hummus is alright. I am not crazy about it. I think I have an even more distaste for hummus because my ex really liked hummus, especially the garlicky stinky kind, and he never liked to brush his teeth so I was stuck with his disgusting breath for DAYS and I just bleh bleh, can't have hummus without thinking of that.

@LindaOHio It just makes it so potent and it isn't good when it is too much.

I think that's why the commercial brand I tried was so bad because it had garlic in it; and I hate things with a lot of garlic too!

I have definitely eaten hummus, but I have only once tried to make it at home...and I didn't love the way it turned out.
