The Horse's latest idiot move. Do you have scrapes and bruises that you can't explain?

I was cooking up some bacon the other morning when I noticed a burn on the back of my right hand. I paused and realized I had no idea where the burn came from. It was at the blister stage and didn't hurt, so all I did was ice it and then forget about it. It's healing fine. I also have two scratches on my right ankle and have no idea where they came from. Maybe I bumped my bike against my ankle while carrying it downstairs, but I don't remember doing so. As for the bruises on my left and right hips, those come from my kitchen counter, which juts out where I enter my kitchen. It does NOT have rounded edges and nails me about once a week. Do you ever discover bruises, scratches or other minor injuries and have no idea where they came from?

Yes i have had many in my life. One recent was a bruise on my left hip. Literally came from nowhere because i never hit it or anything. And a burn mark on my right index finger knuckle.

Have you been punching your water kettle when it takes too long to reach a boil?

@TheHorse you think you'd have noticed those!

@Jessicalynnt I have two hypotheses. One is that I got tangled up with the chain while getting on my bike and didn't notice. Another is that I scratched it while stepping over an old stereo amplifier to get to my balcony (before I cleaned that area up yesterday).

Yeppers. Exactly the same here. And how did I get these scratches on the INSIDE of my ankle?

Sometimes I too get some such cuts. Yet they are not serious mostly, but sometimes, if it is on a thumb, it can be painful. Sometimes, something rough or sharp can brush something and cause such cuts or little bleeding. So, well, we can take care but sometimes it is tough to avoid.

I've been attacked by an old tube amplifier several times. It's by the door to my balcony. Nothing serious. Just a little bleeding.

It happens all the time, particularly when I have worked outside in the garden and when I play with the cats.

@TheHorse The young red cat of my neighbor loves to "help" me in the garden, when I pick up weeds, he comes to play and I get "involuntary" scratches.

@LadyDuck We all show affection in different ways. I have to do a post about how I was "attacked" by a pit bull the other day. Of course I'll do the "catchy title" thing. Heh.

Oh, cats are good at providing scratches--especially when they get too passionate during a good purr session.

I always seem to get cuts and bruises on the back of my hands. Usually just in the right place to get caught every time I put my hand in my pocket. Good excuse not to get the drinks in I suppose.

I do that all the time. Hubby used to point and ask me what I done and I would be trying to figure out what he was talking about. Now he just pokes the bruise when asking as he has learned they usually dont hurt me.

There's no way I could keep up with everything I bump into, fall over, or door facings that I try to move at least once a week. So I can totally relate.

I've come to accept that I will have battle scars, even if I have no idea where I got them.

It's a wonder the burn didn't hurt. I bruise very easily. I'll bump myself somewhere and think 'I'll remember how I got that when the bruise comes out' but I never do.

I haven't found that many mystery bruises lately, but I do get them often. However, I have three or four mystery scrapes right now. Fortunately, I'm one of those people who scabs up pretty quickly. So I'm not bleeding all over my house.

Sigh. Maybe that's what it is. My best guess as to what cause the minor burn is splattering bacon grease that I did not pay attention to.
