"The official start to hurricane season could move to May as early storms become more frequent

“The official start of hurricane season may get shifted into May in coming years, after several consecutive seasons produced storms prior to the current opening date of June 1."
We had very little rain in March and April and though officially May starts 'Rain Season' it wasn't until this week that we got hit with an all-day rain for the first time in a long time as you can see the list of amounts in the 3rd picture. Rain plus high temperatures add up to high humidity.
Today has been a beautiful sunny day up until now at 5 PM as the clouds start to roll in though it has been raining in Miami all day so we might start getting some shortly.
Tomorrow Fort Lauderdale is starting to reopen though there seem to be questions about whether restaurants will be able to open to 25 or 50% capacity or even if the latter can even open yet!
As much as I would love to eat out I am a little hesitant to and will wait to see what the response is from the public. I would be inclined to go to the new Quarterdeck as they have a wide-open outdoor courtyard with tables that can easily be set 6 feet apart. I, also, have a groupon for Cafe Vico that I was going to use for a theatre night but it doesn't look like there will be theatre for a long time! Cafe Vico has expanded so they might have no problem with the new rules and I would like to offer support but I just might wait until I see how the 'new normal' goes!
By the way I always mean to put my email address here--feel free to contact me there if you want to!

Even though I'm heading that it's going to be a bad hurricane season this year I'm hoping it isn't. We have enough problems to deal with.
Dining outside with enough distance sounds like fun

Oh we are always going to have a bad hurricane season and so far we have had one in the past 12 years!!
Dining outside is NOT for me especially from March to November with the heat, humidity, car gas fumes, etc.

I love eating out but I want to be able to do so for years ahead so I can wait another month or two!

We have been lucky for the past decade--only one hurricane and it did very little damage!

@GreatMartin That doesn’t make me smile, nor does the haircut. Stay safe.

Boy, do we need rain on this end of Florida. I only ventured to the nearest convenience store two blocks away and met no one going or coming and there was no one in the store.

I agree--as much as I want to eat out it will not happen soon unless I am the only one in the restaurant!!

Unfortunately for our friends in the Philippines, Taiwan and southern Japan, the typhoon season has started too. Tokyo hasn't had any get as far as us yet but Kyushu had lots of rain and landslide warnings from the tropical remains of the typhoon last week.

Actually most other places have worse weather than we do in Fort Lauderdale--even Miami, 40 miles from us--have heavier rains and more destructive hurricanes than we do!

Actually we have been very lucky--only 1 hurricane in the past decade--Miami, for some reason, gets hit harder and more often than we do!
