A Lot of People Went Back to Work Today

Although we are still in quarantine, a lot of people went back to their jobs today. It sounds very risky to me. But they have to earn a living so off they go! The only problem is, it only takes one infected person to make everybody out there to get sick. I wonder why they have to isolate everybody and then be in quarantine if they will risk other people's health now anyway.

I know people need to work, but it defeats the purpose of quarantine. It will risk too many lives if proper measures aren’t taken.

Exactly my point! It shouldn't even be placed if they will just decide that they already had enough and just go out even if it's not safe.

@DianneN It seems that they're only thinking about themselves. What if they contacted with the virus and infect everyone in their area?

I think what is lacking with the quarantine we have is the mass testing so that anyone with the virus will be detected en masse and the government can do the necessary solutions to those detected positive. But our government wasn’t able to do that because of lack of resources to afford it. With that we only detect those that have the symptoms and we couldn’t know if there are asymptomatic out there that is a health risk too of spreading the virus unintentionally.

@cherriefic Yeah that would have been effective when we were under quarantine where people where not moving around so they can easily pinpoint the problem while we were immobile. Now the government is passing on to the employers to do the testing on their employees. That is just too late that people are starting to move around again

@rsa101 They leave it to the private sectors already. That means we're on our own now.

They should've allowed budget for that than to give subsidy that the poor people didn't even get.

@cherriefic Yes they are. And here we get such conflicting informaiton. Stay home. Go to work. Self Isolate. No cases...

@saundyl It's confusing already. But we don't have so much choice for now.

I guess rapid mass testing is necessary for now while there is no cure yet,so everyone will be aware of their conditions and will be able to contain the spread of virus as every detected positive one can be treated properly. It's really scary, our health and economy are being compromised. Each livelihood is greatly affected. Do we have a choice?(sigh)

I don't think so. They said that they will leave it to the private sectors. Good luck to us!

That is my point. The quarantine is silly. If the virus will be her for a long time then the earlier we learn to cope, the better. Why quarantine people when after some months you will make them go out to work. It is like we just wasted the 2 months of lockdown.

Exactly my point! It's like suddenly decided that we can't afford being in quarantine so it's okay to get out again.

I agree. I can understand that people need to earn a living, but I also think it's far too risky

As long as they maintain social distancing and wash their hands frequently and wear their masks then they should be ok.

Sooner them than me. Thank God our First Minister is taking things slowly and doesnt want anyone going back to work until its as safe as it can be. I hope we are locked down for a good while longer yet. The longer tbe better. Less chance of the virus going wild again. You are spot on, One infected person out there could start another big outbreak. Everybody needs to be tested as soon as possible. I cant wait to see what happens in London. Seen them crammed onto trains on the news. I wouldnt be that close to anyone.

It's hard for us to stay on lockdown longer though. But I hope that the workforce will be safe out there.

@cherriefic I dont see how people can be safe. There will be people who have the virus and dont know it, having close contact with other people. Its a matter of time

It is very pathetic. You know, in my place is more annoying. Not only go to work.. but also go to the mall . But we realize to give a chance to workers. They have continous their living. Good luck for them

I noticed this week that more people are shopping. The government requested only one person from a family go once every three days, and I think that was happening through Golden Week (ending May 5) but now people are going together. Shops are not open as long hours so they are more crowded too.

They should not put us in the lockdown in the first place. That way, people didn't have to deal with hunger.
