Annoyances - A Little About Me

This is not a rant or a vent, this is pulling back the curtain a little bit into who I am. This time it's about annoyances. We all have them, the pet peeves that really push our buttons and make us want to scream. I'm going to start with the world of fashion. My first annoyance would be peddle pushers. For those of you too young to know what those are, they're capris or glorified peddle pushers. They're too short for long pants and too long for shorts and totally disgusting. My mother made me wear them when I was a kid. My next annoyance in the fashion world is saddle shoes. They must be the ugliest shoes ever made. I had no choice but to wear them in fourth grade. If you're too young to know what they are, they're black and white shoes. The black goes across the top of the foot, saddle style. Next comes high water clothes whether pants, skirts or dresses. If they are supposed to go to the floor but fail, they are high water not to be confused with peddle pushers which were designed that way. I like my clothes to fit to the floor, not above the floor or too long that I'm stepping on them. That brings me to the next fashion no-no. Clothes that are too long you're stepping on them. It makes it very hard to walk that way. Truly annoying and what a good needle and thread will easily fix or turn up the cuff. Another annoyance I have is I only get dressed once a day. What I put on in the morning, I take off at night. I don't change my clothes multiple times a day, not even when I worked. I'm the one doing the laundry, so one set of clothes per day. I made that clear to my children while they were growing up too. I don't know if they've carried on with that tradition. Now, let's leave the area of clothes and fashion. Books. I absolutely hate turning the corner of the page or setting the book with it open face down, though I confess, I'm guilty of that one when I can't find a bookmark. I do my best to have a bookmark handy when I'm reading. I never ever corner a page. I see people do that and it's like claws on a chalkboard. Totally annoying. Being late. It's not in my vocabulary. I'm early. Though I admit to being late on a few occasions and none of them was my fault. Trains and boats were usually to blame. Being late is annoying and makes you breathless as you hurry to get where you're going. Trains and boats. We have three drawbridges in Green Bay. Trains and boats can hold you up for longer than I want to wait, but wait I must as it's always on the route I need to take to get where I'm going. Trains always have the knack of stopping before it's fully gone through and that wait can seem like an eternity. I don't mind when I'm not in a hurry to get anywhere, but when I'm on my way to church on Sunday morning and there isn't usually a train at that time, and there is one, it's annoying. Boats - coal boats to be precise. They're very long. They put up two drawbridges at a time. That's how close those bridges are to one another. It can take fifteen minutes for a boat to go through one of those bridges. Also annoying. I have no control over trains and boats, so I wait. I count the train cars if I see the engine when the bar goes down in front of me and I look at my watch every few seconds until the last car has gone past. I'll watch the progress of the boat as it makes its way through the two bridges, also looking at my watch every few minutes. When you're not used to being late for anything, it's annoying how long even a few minutes can be. I remember getting home seconds before an appointment showed up to install my cable. That was a couple of years ago and I no longer have cable, only the Internet. Cold drinks. Yes, you read that right. I don't like anything cold. No ice in my drinks. It goes back to when I had teeth and one of them hurt to the max when anything cold hit it. Since that time, I've drunk everything room temperature and prefer it that way. No ice, please. I'm sure there are many more annoyances, like the person who can't keep quiet but rambles on and on and on. So that I'm not annoying, I'll close this now, finish up the notifications that came in while I wrote this, and then get on with my book which I want to work on today. I have a confrontational scene to write. And yes, that's another annoyance. I hate confrontation. What are your annoyances? Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me.

Today I´d fill a book writing about annoyances. I woke up very depressed. I want this lockdown to end and have even one day to visit. I went to the kitchen and discovered that I had not turned on the dishwasher last night. During the day i more expensive and I had filled the machine so much that I must do it now. I agree with you about books. I have bookmarks everywhere though. The image is perfect!

@just4him I love books. That´s why I pity so much people who cannot relate to them.

Thank you. I'm glad you like the image of my son taken on his birthday at Maribel Caves Park. It's an annoyance when we forget to do something, thought we did, and find out we didn't. I totally get that. It's so disrespectful to the book to treat it like that.

In the area of fashion . . . for a woman, I don't like clothes that are way too revealing. Some shorts these days are wayyyyy too short . I don't mind cold drinks, but I prefer room temperature or hot drinks. I'm not into "ice". Oh I can write a whole big list of pet peeves. But one main one is someone who chews gum and talks. I hate that in person and I hate that on the phone.

I forgot about the revealing clothes. You're right, they're indecent. I saw a woman with shorts on one day, her jacket was longer than her shorts. Yeah, I get that, not right. Also indecent. Chewing with your mouth open and talking is plain rude.

I am guilty one of your annoyances. I love my capris during the summer. I don't feel comfortable wearing shorts. One of my annoyances is finding pants that are long enough. I am tall with long legs and like you, I hate pants that aren't long enough.

@just4him I guess I'm not really considered tall as 5'6" is probably normal. But I do have long legs compared to my body. What's funny is my Mom and grandmother were 5' tall and my stepfather was 5'6" and I have a sister that is 4'11". My biological father was over 6 feet so I guess me and my other sister took our height from him.

I think it is interesting to read about what things annoy others...especially if there are things that you can agree on them with. I can definitely agree on the train thing. Whenever I go into town I have to cross the train tracks, and more often than not there is a train...and they are always so long! Sorry that you don't like cold drinks anymore, I can only drink them ice cold, unless they are meant to be warm...but I am not a fan of room temperature. Hmm, another on my list would be drivers who can't wait 5 seconds for you and pull out in front of you. I am sure I have more but can't think of them at the moment.

My latest annoyance has been people behind the counter who work with the public all day and don't wear masks. Thank God the Governor has now mandated that..so today all the employees wear wearing masks, something they should have been doing all along!

I won't share my annoyances other than maybe the fact that my prominent have had been falling asleep more and more in the night meaning it wakes me up and I can no longer sleep. I may need surgery. That part isn't annoying as I can be of work but I'll also need help in the shower and God forbid in the bathroom. But I don't drink too many drinks cold either excerpt in exceptionally hot days. I do get annoyed when parents in the grocery checkouts get themselves a treat but won't let their kids have anything

That last about grocery checkouts would be totally annoying. I used to work in the store bakery and found it annoying when teenagers would beg their mother for the free cookie.

My main annoyance like you is being late and having to wait for a ride from someone who almost always run late with the excuse we never start on time anyway, My response maybe we would if everyone was on time. As for clothes it bothers me that it is hard for those of us who are short to find clothes that really fit, I did hate it when we had draw bridges here and being stuck on the bridge while the draw was up. I can remember being stuck on the old 3 mile bridge as a young child of 4 when going to the beach and the draw was up.s That was replaced when I was 6 with a high rise that being replaced with 2 highrises that will each have 3 lanes each plus a service lane. We have one open now with the oil bridge being tore down to build the other span, The one has is handling traffic with 2 lanes for each way though a little narrower but that is what we have to deal with to have a better way across the day as the previous bridge was getting old (almost 60 years and has had daage from barges hitting and hurricanes,

Being short is a total annoyance when it comes to clothes. There's no one else you can get a ride with? I totally understand your annoyance with that person and always being late. I'm glad the new bridge is working better. It must be difficult in hurricanes.

@just4him The three of us that live on this side of the bridge ride together to meeting that is on the other side of the three mile bridge about 20 miles from the bridge.once we cross. If I buy capris from the tall section they are pants on me and I don't have to hem.

You have long list of annoyance. Most of them are common to most people about trains and boat starting or arriving late or stepping over a long dress or having been served a very cold drink I also don't like people not following rules or not fulfilling commitment.

I agree with you about people being late. Drives me nuts. I LOVE capris though! I wear them at work in the fall and spring/summer since we can't wear shorts and my classroom has no air conditioning. My pet peeves? People who don't pronounce words correctly. (baffroom, liberry, wit), people who chew with their mouth open, fruit with my food (mango salsa on fish, apples, strawberries or cranberries in salad, pork with plums, etc). I could go on but those are the first 3 that came to my mind.
