Something I shared with my mom..

My mom should have been a detective, although she would never have been able to be one (very poor vision, and bad health). She was great at getting to the truth, and had endless patience. She loved documentary shows like The First 48, Forensic Files, and the channel Investigation Discovery was her favorite channel. She has been gone five years now, but I still watch shows I know she would have gotten into. There is now a Forensic Files II show, and I watch that. Plus, a reboot of the old show Unsolved Mysteries is coming to Netflix soon (my sister lets me use her account), and we loved the original. I remember in the old days we'd watch The New Detectives, which the TV show CSI was based on. In addition there was Cold Case, and City Confidential. My dad thought we were nuts. We didn't see them all, and she didn't have time for a lot of TV, but if the TV happened to be on, that is what she would be watching. Do you guys get into those kind of shows?

@AmbiePam I just started watching The Genetic Detective and so far it is really good. Forensic Files used to be a favorite too for years.

@CarolDM I recently saw a commercial for The Genetic Detective, and it looked good. The reboot of Forensic Files got renewed for two more seasons, so that made me happy.

I used to, but not so much anymore. If I'm with friends, then yeah I tend to watch them. I am the same way though, I'll sometimes watch things that I knew my mother would have loved.

I like the fictional ones, but not so much the news story shows that take an hour to tell the unsolved mystery like on Dateline or 48 Hours. My husband always watches those shows. I might get caught up in it if I'm in the room, but I really don't care for those shows.

Some of these are interesting but I'm never able to solve them.

I like them because the docuseries tell you how they were solved, and rarely do they have loose ends.

@AmbiePam I enjoy finding out how all the loose ends get taken care of.

I don't watch that kind of thing on TV but my ma-in-law is obsessed with US crime shows - she started off watching CSI and now watches all the true crime stuff

I like true crime shows with a lot of forensics. I think in another life I"d like to be a forensic pathologist....along with a dozen other careers.
