It’s hard to believe that twelve months ago we were on a canal boat on the Loire Canal in France. Eight of us shared a self-drive boat which was very comfortable with individual ensuite cabins. We were on the boat for a fortnight then the group split up. We went on to Ireland to spend time with our son.
Mostly we had very lovely weather and, as can be seen, we had a couple of very nice meals, complete with wine, on the roof of our boat.
It seems much longer ago that we had this wonderful holiday. And since then we’re had a pandemic upset everyone’s world. Can you remember where you were this time twelve months ago?

I see you also had Vegemite from your country.
I do not remember at all where I was, but I can check my agenda and I will know. I checked, we were at home and we had all the electric plugs of the house inspected, it must be done every 20 years. It was warmer last year.

@paigea We can go anywhere in our state now except some of the aboriginal communities in the far north. Dozens of 'grey nomads' (Aussie equivalent of your snowbirds) are packing their caravans and heading north for the winter. The government is encouraging it to help out those towns that rely on tourists.

@JudyEv We did some camping last summer. Not so far this year. We have a spot booked in July but not sure what we are doing as it is in the next province. They are not banning travel but not encouraging it. The provincial campgrounds are closed to out of province people.
The campground we go to is private, but it's in a provincial park.

I also miss that kind of activity whether in any kind of resort. The gathering of people is the essence for me.

One year ago, I was returning to the professional sport of paintball by playing in my first tournament after blowing out my knee and having surgery. I had to wear a knee brace and it was miserably hot and I felt like I was going to die out on the tournament field. haha

@JudyEv Yes. I had the surgery in March last year, and went through rehab in April and May. And time definitely flies pretty fast, especially the older we get.

Wow. Feels like a lifetime ago, huh? Dad had disowned me in a fit of rage a year ago. That same day he decided to drink, and take some antianxiety pills and smash the car into a building a several trees. So over that span of time I was disowned. He later didn't remember any of it. And now after he's gone we realize that this "out of his head" episode was due to the undiagnosed dementia

I'm not sure, probably nothing spectacular is happening but a couple of years ago I was at sea, for the first time in May, in fact, the end of May and the beginning of June

If not for the pandemic you would have been enjoying similar vacation like you had last year.

What a lovely picture. I hope you enjoyed your Vegemite. 12 months ago I was here in my chair, MyLotting.

We are retired now so don't have to worry about work too much now.

They were not nice, not nice at all.
