It used to be my favorite and a different type of favorite

For years when I slept at night I slept best curled up on my right side facing the right side of the bed. It's still my favorite, I suppose, but I rarely get the option of sleeping that way anymore.
Why? Because my husband snores. He's always snored but either his snoring is worse or it's because he used to be able to sleep on his right side, which he also favored, and he doesn't think he can do that anymore at present.
He had major surgery last year in October where he had blood filling up an area in his groin because of a slow leak from the artery in that area. Once they cleaned out the congealed blood that had collected over time rather than leaving a large pocket of air they then cut his chest from below his breast to his lower stomach area and took about an inch width of muscle and weaved it down under tissue to fold into the hole left by the previous surgery.
The surgery to remove the blood and repair the artery was done by a vascular surgeon where taking the muscle down was done by a plastic surgeon.
All this was done on my husband's right side and he doesn't think it's healed enough yet to try to lay in that direction.
Years ago we had a king sized bed and when it needed to be replaced my sister had an extra queen which we decided to use as put money for a new mattress at that time was limited. With the king I felt he was way over there too hard for cuddling but with the queen and him sleeping on his back he gets more than half the bed. We both sleep mostly on our backs and I just deal with it but I've gotten better sleeping in my left even though it's not my favorite.

As far as my other favorite it's this flower. It's a type of leek and called an allium. Most flowers are my favorites and therefore I have many. I used to have two of these but one didn't come up this year maybe I weeded it out by mistake. It's like a big pincushion but it's not considered that plant. I use a peony metal piece to keep it up and once it rains it loses most of it's color quickly.
As a side note I discovered that the gender and chicks is also a type of leek. I don't know why.

@LadyDuck my knees, and feet make it hard to stay on my side overlong. I did try to shift that way last night. I also feel I have more space when sleeping on my sides but when we got the memory foam mattress last year that makes it harder to lift the body too move positions and my back gets whacked out more in the daytime from me moving wrong than it does at night.

I flip a lot too and thought of another reason I can't sleep on my left side a lot and I'll include Anna here too as ever been discussing this, @ladyduck . My left arm falls asleep a lot when I sleep on my left side. Not all the time but enough. It leaves me alone when I'm on my back.
Diane you and I have talked about the snoring issue before. I know he had sleep apnea as he weird breathing quite a bit at night. I don't know if I would take him if he'd believe me or not but he refuses to see that he needs help in that area.

@MarshaMusselman I guess there isn't a lot you can do except to just deal with it. I hope it gets better over time.

In the summer he had a fan in the window which helps cut the noise but I have a lot to accomplish which makes it harder to stay in bed when I can't sleep even when it's still early for me.

@simone10 I bought more ear plugs but accidentally threw the package away. My sister will bring more of here's when we can finally get together again and if she remembers. That should help my sleeping longer I hope.
The early birds singing don't hello either when the windows are open.

I'm a side sleeper. It's very rare that I sleep on my back anymore, and I've never been a stomach keeper. I'm sure I snore pretty loudly when I do sleep on my back, so it's probably a good thing that I most sleep on my side.

@MarshaMusselman Years ago in college I fractured a vertebrae in my neck, and the doctor told me I couldn't sleep on my stomach anymore. So I just stopped sleeping that way. And now, if I try to sleep on my stomach, it's very uncomfortable for me. I guess I got so used to not sleeping on my stomach that my body feels weird if I do try to sleep that way.

@moffittjc some years ago before my knees got bad is sleep or rest in my stomach if I ate the wrong thing and my stomach was doing flip flops but once my knees got worse that became even more uncomfortable to do. The closest I can get now is huffing the side of the bed in a combo side downward position. Mostly though I just drink Vernors to alleviate that and maybe eating better had made that unnecessary as I don't remember the last time I needed to try that.
My husband's decided to sleep in the recliner last night so I could sleep better but those darn birds are just too noisy. It's rather get up and get things done for awhile and then take a nap rather than being forced to stay in bed. I have an illness where they believed eight hours is the best medicine. In the winter that is easy but in the summer if rather try to get things done more. So it can be harder to get back to sleep.

I could sleep in my stomach when I was young and my stomach was fairly flat but that was a long time ago. I might snore a little bit I don't keep anyone awake.

Must be nice. If we ever get the wider bed again it may not matter anymore but other things are more necessary first.

My husband told me that I snores at night sometimes that he have to wake me up when I am snoring. I understand that it`s hard to sleep when your partner is snoring but I can`t control it not unless I will be informed and do something about it

Are you usually in your back when he wakes you up? If so, try sleeping on your side note you might find that does the trick.

Where a lot of fat deposits on neck and allied areas people snore. But doctors can be consulted on that.

Thanks
