Don't like to be a part of such a crowd

Hubby's friend had a birthday yesterday and decided to host a barbecue at a friend's backyard. I didn't wanna go but hubby did so I went along with him. I didn't wanna be stuck home alone and also wanted a change of scenery as I pretty much keep myself in the house these days. I thought there would be only a few people at the barbecue but there were a lot of them. There was no social distancing and no one wore a mask. Some people even passed around a blunt or a joint, not even caring that they are blowing it in other people's faces. Thankfully, hubby didn't participate in that. At least I didn't see him do it. There was a lot of drinking and people chasing infused vodka or infused tequila with beer. And people were pretty darn loud too. Not my scene. And I felt uncomfortable at times being there. That's why sometimes I went to a different spot and sat by myself instead of remaining with the group of people. Perhaps not the best thing to do at a gathering, as it makes a person look weird, but if I am uncomfortable or in my own bubble not really participating in conversations much, I'd rather sit away from people. It was also that time of the month and I wasn't feeling 100% physically and emotionally. I wanted to leave early but of course hubby had to keep on socializing. We were there for like eight hours. I finally was able to get him to leave around 10 pm. And even then I was surprised he agreed to leave.

That's a long time to be at a social gathering. I'm sorry you were uncomfortable. It surprises me that no one was following the COVID-19 guidelines.

These people are all around our age. I bet if they were my parents age they'd care. Hubby loves to socialize. If I asked him to leave much earlier he wouldn't have done so.

@lovebuglena The younger people feel that they are invincible. It "don't" work that way!

It wasn't hell but after a while I wanted to go home.

I wouldn't go anywhere now, especially a crowded bbq with people not wearing masks or social distancing. Ewwww!

Yeah. And if I wouldn't have come up to hubby and told me "let's go" he would have still stayed there.

Any particular reason? I don't mind crowds but at times I feel uncomfortable or like I don't belong there.
