Cardinal Eggs Safe ~ Babies Soon

I wrote about finding a cardinal nest in my yard on 6-02-2020 (link below). The eggs are incubated 11-13 days by the female. So you know what that means, right? Baby cardinals will be born any day now. I am trying not to get too excited yet. But it is happening just the same. The crazy bird lay or bird whisperer as a friend on here calls me, just cannot help not to be excited. I am keeping fingers and toes crossed that these babies will survive. Photo ©CarolDM2020 Will keep you posted. And yes I climbed the ladder earlier to check on these eggs. Not a nest I can see without the ladder. Maybe that will keep them safe from predators.

I hope you will have some little red babies very soon, although some will be brown with red beaks of course.

@CarolDM You will love this. I just looked out my front window and there were two California quail with their top knots bobbing on my deck railing. Made me laugh. I am so glad the dogs were in the house.

Have you left the ladder in place or do you have to cart it out each time?
