Summer Has Definitely Arrived

Suppose to be in the 80s later. And the temperatures will continue getting hotter as the seasons progresses. The humidity is the worst part. But it is that time of year. I do what needs to be done early in the mornings. Then I can enjoy my coffee. More blooms in the garden. They seem to love the hot sunshine. Nothing but blue skies here today. Snapped the photo to share the nice hot day with you. Filled the bird bath three times yesterday. They drink more water than I do and they love splashing in the pool. I call it the bird pool. These birds better bring me lots of babies.

Good Morning. I am hoping for an early fall. Our temperatures have began to even out, however, and the humidity has dropped considerably as well. I looked outside earlier to witness a cat trying to chase a cardinal. The cardinal took flight, and didn't seem any worse for wear.

@CarolDM They are. It has been years since I've witnessed a cat hunt in person though. I do think the cardinal made it as it didn't appear to be wounded when flying away.

Same here, do not enjoy the heat. I hope the cardinal made it. Cats are huge predators.

It seems to be summer here in Florida all of the time. I have to agree, the humidity is the worst part of summer. It makes my hair curl up and look squiggly all over my head. I hope you are having a wonderful summer.

@CarolDM I prefer the cold myself. I can put more clothes on when I am cold but can't seem to take enough off when I am too hot.

@HazySue I say the exact same thing. Love the cold. Maybe I should move.

Southerners just can’t convince people “It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity.” Not until they feel it for themselves. When I drove out to L.A. in 1983 in a car with no A/C I was more miserable in Little Rock, with a temperature of 85 (and a humidity to match), than in 103-degree Phoenix.

I know right! I know that is true. Thank goodness for the A/C. Could not survive without it.

We have had cold weather for the last few days. This coming week is supposed to be warmer.

We have rain for the whole day but it is 22°C and warm. I think we have plenty of birds nests on the trees nearby as I always hear them chirping.

You have such a busy yard. It's a nice day here too. It's going to get hot and humid next week.

I remember last summer was so hot, I'd get up at 6am so I could have everything done by noon, except for early evening walks with the dogs. I also scheduled my doctor appointments for first thing every morning. I just cannot function in intense heat and humidity.

The birds can really scatter the water around, can't they?

Yes the birds do need to cool down when the weather is hot . The birds in your garden must be thankful for your kind gesture of providing a bird bath for them.
