Sunday Brunch and Too Much Sunshine

The forecast called for another stormy day here in north Florida, so once again I didn't make any big plans. I thought for sure I'd be myLotting all day from the comfort of my home. But lo and behold, right around 11:00am the clouds parted and gave way to some beautiful sunshine! So I grabbed my girl and told her we were going to brunch! There is a local outdoor cafe right around the corner from where I live that offers a great menu, and bottomless mimosas on Sunday. So we grabbed us a seat in the shaded patio area, ordered brunch, and dove right into those mimosas. Soon after, a live band took the stage and provided some nice entertainment for us. After we had our fill of mimosas, we decided to take advantage of the sunshine before the clouds moved back in, and we headed out into the grassy area adjacent to where the band was playing. I had on shorts and a t-shirt, so I just took my shirt off and laid on the grass. My girlfriend, being more fair-skinned than me, parked herself under a nearby tree and we listened to the band and sipped on more mimosas. Eventually the clouds moved back in and we packed it up and headed home. I'm glad we left when we did, because when we got home I realized I was sunburnt! I already have a good base tan, and I didn't think we were out there in the sun that long, but I guess when you're drinking bottomless mimosas that you can quickly lose track of time! Thank goodness for the multitude of aloe vera plants I have in the backyard! The aloe gel was very soothing on my red skin! How was your day? Did you do anything fun and exciting?

Sorry about your sunburn, but glad you had a wonderful time. You should know about that Florida sun by now! I had lunch under the umbrella on our deck, took a walk around the block since we last spoke, and fell asleep reading again in the sun. I didn't forget my sunscreen.

You were my inspiration today to get out in the sunshine! I figured you shouldn't be the only one having a good time outdoors! But at least I'm glad to hear you didn't forget to put on sunscreen! I didn't bring sunscreen because laying out in the sun wasn't originally part of the plan; it just sort of happened. I blame the mimosas! lol

I'm usually pretty careful, I blame the copious amounts of mimosas I drank for this incident.

I was a little disappointed that my meal only came with two pieces of bacon. As a bacon lover, I would prefer a whole plate of bacon!

@moffittjc well, I have to agree that if you love bacon then I wonder why you ate the 5 pieces in advance and leaving only 2 slices for the pictorial.

We had bottomless mimosas in Vegas at Border Grill. The waiter even gave each of us one to go! hahaha

@NJChicaa Vitamin C from the mimosas, and Vitamin D from the sunshine! And Vitamin E from the aloe! I think I've got it all covered!

Well at least you got out of the house like me. I originally thought I would be stuck inside all day due to the weather. Although the dark storm clouds did roll in, it never did actually rain!

Thats nice, aloe gel soothing on your red skin. Impressive that you grow your own. Mimosa is not a term I have heard before, but if its bottomless booze I daresay I could try it. All this talk of garment removal ... Not good for me. Brunch sounds awesome. I would grab a girl for that as well.

A mimosa is a drink made from equal parts orange juice and champagne. It's really good. A lot of times a little grenadine is added as well. It's served in a champagne flute.

@JimBo452020 It's considered a girly drink here too. You don't see many guys drinking mimosas. In fact, there weren't many guys there at the cafe at all. It was almost entirely women. And as far as drinks go, I really wanted a Bloody Mary, but those aren't bottomless drinks, so I figured if my girl was going to drink bottomless mimosas, I might as well join her!

@moffittjc It would be considered a bit of a girlie drink here. But then again Methylated Spirit used to be a popular drink here.

I am sorry for your sunburn. The aloe is the only thing that works for red skin, I always have a bottle of aloe gel, I get sunburnt easily.

@moffittjc My skin is pale, it takes forever a sunburn to fade, this is why I avoid to stay in the sun too long.

@LadyDuck For people with fair skin, it is definitely smarter to avoid a sunburn altogether.

The sunburn has already faded today. I had a nice base tan to start with, so I knew the burn would not last long. My skin is not painful to the touch at all, so I know the sunburn is gone.

We had a thunderstorm yesterday that decided to start when I was mowing and a good distance from shelter. I get drenched.

Oh, wow, that really stinks. Unless you were so hot that the cool rain felt good! But I always hated it when it would start raining when I was in the middle of mowing. Or even worse, as soon as I finished washing my vehicle! lol

It's better to sit outside under the shade than to risk getting sunburned. Also helps protect you from getting skin cancer.

I'm sorry, I don't understand this post. Cafe? Live music? What are these things of which you speak?! We stayed at home. Again. Watched Netflix. Again. Drank tea in the garden. Again. The highlight of my day was a noisy helicopter whizzing overhead; Facebook told me it was part of lots of police and an ambulance near the traveller's site on the edge of town. Nothing in the news though so that was obviously a bit of a damp squib.
