Ringing in my ears

We have a name for the church just down the road from us, the one whose bells toll every hour. I don't even rightly remember what denomination the church is, but that hardly matters as we've never been to service there. My second, or perhaps third cousin and I spent several years growing up together. I was a few years older than him, and so I was in regular school when he was just going to preschool / daycare at the church just down the road.
We call it "__ __ church" using his name in place of the blanks. The past couple of days, I have been able to hear the bells as they toll because it's been cool enough to have the window open.
Last evening I paused the video I was watching on youtube and simple listened as the bells announced the dinner hour. I listened again an hour later, and then an hour after that.
There's something relaxing about listening to those bells.

The closest church is just down the road from us. I just looked on a map, it is the methodist church. There's another one a mile from that which is a latter day saints church. I do not think it was always a latter day saints church.
I don't think ours toll through the night, but I do not know either. We can not hear them unless we have a window open.

@LadyDuck I can see where it would become a pain, especially if you're awoken in the middle of the night from them.

@ScribbledAdNauseum We have two at walking distance (both Catholics), until a few years ago they used to ring the bell at every hour also during the night. During winter with the windows closed I did not hear the bells, but during summer it was a bit of a pain.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I would unfortunately have to say there are many non-religious people around and would probably complain about those bells. We have at least 10 different religious denominations in our small town. If all those churches' bells rang they could be heard all over town and would be non-stop. There are a lot of people who LOOK for something to complain about.

This is the only one I know of that does it, at least around here. Of course, that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

I like the sound of church bells. I don't think any place around here rings bells..but I enjoy the sound.

This is the only area that I can actually ever remember hearing them. I didn't live so close to churches in other areas.

We had a church in our neighborhood that would ring the bells through the day. It was really nice and I do kind of miss it here.

I feel like the church bells are a good reminder for us to take some time out of our day for ourselves. I know that's not really their purpose, but I still feel as if it is nice.

They remind me to stop and take some enjoyment out of my day.

Where we used to live you could hear the church bells outside on certain days. It was very nice.

I was trying to remember all the places I've lived, and I think this is the only place where I've been close enough to a church to hear it's bells.

The church that rings it's bells here is methodist, and it rings atleast every hour.
