There is one great thing about a tooth extraction: I went to Wendy’s for a Frosty and considered it “medicinal” because it was (a) cold and (b) soft.
There was quite a battle for that tooth, but the dentist eventually won. And here’s your reward: a great song that doesn’t have the title anywhere in the lyrics.
#5: Suite: Judy Blue Eyes - Crosby, Stills, and Nash
The third rock song in a row with a CSNY connection! From Neil Young (“After the Gold Rush”) to a band he and Stephen Stills were both in (Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth”) to the supergroup trio!
And oh, what a song. You’re probably scratching your head as to why it’s only #5. You’ll see when we get to the four songs ahead of it!
No mention of a suite. Nothing referencing Judy (Collins, Stills’ girlfriend for whom this song was written) or her blue eyes. In fact, there’s no reference to blue or eyes in the song.
Well played, Mr. Stills. And a gorgeous song for the ages.
Suite: Judy Blue Eyes
Written by Stephen Stills
Recorded by Crosby, Stills, and Nash
From Crosby, Stills and Nash 1969
